I think Markarth is my least favourite city in skyrim and your description just give more weight to that thought for me. Cold, hard and full of irritable stand-of fish folk like Calcelmo. I get the feeling from your writing that Edrelle and co (and your good self) don't really like the city of stone either. It's funny that despite the thieves guild, I really see Edrelle most at home in Riften (perhaps in part because she's part of the guild), but mostly because of the beauty and nature of the place; it just seems fitting for the laughing fox.

Sorry for digression!! A most beautiful chapter, some insanely gorgeous descriptions and your images are just spot on as always.

Though impressive for its construction the people of the city really do nothing for it, its people cold and unwelcoming, with some quite unsettling and indeed that stubborn Calcelmo, the threat of the forsworn and the influence of the silver-bloods has scarred the city badly. It is true that Edrelle and her friend did dislike the city as I do. I guess I do also see her most at home in Riften, those bright leaves sometimes in the hues of a fox's fur, the other sly sorts around

A joy to hear you found the chapter beautiful, the descriptions gorgeous and the images well taken, thanks a bunch, Jess

Beautifully written as always, I like how you always delve into detail and weave close to the tale
I do hope they find what they are searching for, because people like Calcelmo are often a roadblock than an aid :o

Thanks for the kind words, Exelangel, I am one to pay attention to little details and I very much like describing them in the tale
It may take a little slyness and subterfuge but they likely to find what they are seeking, that stubborn scholar is a bit of an obstacle for sure

    I really hate Calcelmo.
Calcelmo looks like an arrogant archaeologist to me, and stubborn as you said.
But his ability to mastered the ancient language is undeniable.

I hope they can find a lot of information from this mage guy.

He is an unpleasant sort for sure.
Arrogant and stubborn are two of his traits and he liked to send people into danger in his place.
He does have a keen mind for learning that ancient language.

There are other way of getting the information besides talking to him.

You'll see a much different side of Calcelmo while doing the Agent of Mara quest; he's not all that bad. At least he doesn't behave as poorly as the Thalmor...

Anyway, fantastic writing and awesome images once again, Kami; you're making me want to play the game again ;-)

I know he has a bit of a kinder side but it certainly does not show very when talking about his opus on the Falmer language. I agree that he is much better than the Thalmor.

Thank you very much, DoC, glad my words and images are up to their usual standard; it is a game with a certain pull when you imagine many a path for adventurers

You captured Markarth very well with your images and words. It is not a friendly place and the Silverblood are little more than slave traders and not very nice. A cit as cold and as hard as the stone it is built from. Still there a few locals who are decent folks and it seems you found one of them in the daughter of the squabbling inn owners.

The opening shot is a great angle as they leave Whiterun and I also like the one in the tundra as they chat among themselves. Wonderfully descriptive words of the scenery, fun dialogue, and beautiful images all went together nicely in this story as the group traveled to Markath.

I also like Edrelles hint that there are other ways to get things from reticent scholars - certainly she is best suited for that option It is good to see the group together again and all working smoothly as a team - splitting off to gather information on this somewhat dangerous city.

Good to hear you think I captured the city so well. It is indeed a bit of a harsh and gritty city with those scheming Silverbloods, no better than Maven they are. It is sort of fitting that the city be made of stone, the people there are hard and distrustful. Some kind people do manage to live in such a city, Hroki did alway strike me as one of those kind sorts in the way she worries for stranger visiting the inn.

In that first shot I was trying to find a good perspective and I was happy with the one I found, glad you liked that shot of them among the grasses as well. I am so glad the descriptions were wonderful and the dialogue fun, that all went together well ^^

I did has some fun writing that line of Edrelle's, speaking to a scholar is indeed not the only way to learn their secrets, she does know that well They are glad to all be together again, they are fortunate to have each other's strengths to depend on as they split up to learn more of the city.
