About this image

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, and with no apparent cause, a dark, smoky nimbus surrounds the Dragonborn, which, like a small personal storm, emanates a crackling sound and tendrils of purple white lightning making travel difficult by greatly interfering with vision.

And it is apparently permanent. :)

If anyone knows which mod adds this effect, I would love to hear about it.

    You could try using the 'sexchange' command on your character (twice, naturally), that usually sorts out graphic and some other bugs.

      Heck, anything is worth a try.
      I'll give 'er a shot and see what happens.
      Be the first time I ever played a dude!!!

      ====================

      Nope. The smoky effect - which starts a little after the lightning effect - disappears for a moment but returns pretty quickly once you start moving around. The lightning effect is apparently permanent, even showing up as a static in race-menu.

      I tried changing race and sex in race-menu also to no avail.

      Looks like maybe I should not have posted that really nasty blog-post about the NSA being just a bunch of post grad wanna-be 007s with visions of grandeur, busy playing in the real world what they think is a role-playing board game, cuz this thing appears to be an intentional bug. C'est la vie eh.

      Sadly, this has occurred to a second character - this one brand spanking new who has done none of the quests - just running around collecting loot and killing stuff. Suddenly, poof, instant Nimbus.

      In fact the image above is that second character.

      Afraid that I'll load an older game and it'll get "infected" too.
      Would rather learn what the cause is and surgically remove it.
