It seems that Grim not really appreciate the riddle of Sam
It is good to see that these vermins bandit were put in their place and their ambush failed, that to avoid confrontation for the trio, although I'm sure Erik, Grim and Wolfgar would not have much difficulty to get rid of these pests.
I appreciate the way to the inn and discussion between Grim and Mralki.
Erik's father was right to tell the whole story of the dagger at Grim, it proves that he is not to be tempted by the recovering and I am sure that even if the temptation is felt one day for Mralki, he will not make the mistake of take again the dagger, he is the father of Erik and like says Gim so nicely, he is a good man like his son.
Mralki knew when he was in something over his head and he is a wise man, so he did not keep it a secret. Grim is very fond of him actually, but then he is Erik's father.
Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed it!
Off to the next chapter! (Again, apologies for not commenting sooner)!
Enjoy whatever you have time for and hope your projects and real life are going good. Thanks again!
Wolfgar and his confiscated pitchfork made me smile.
Wonderful images, and yes, Mralki can be proud of his son. In my eyes, Erik is a friendly, loyal and courageous person, and i like the last shot very much!
Anxious to see where this is all going! Off to the next chapter!
Great stuff!!
It was good to see that Mralki is no worst for the wear for his run in with that dagger but sure it will be in his mind for many years to come and the fear of what he could have done. Now I wonder what they will end up doing with that dagger....
So will be very interesting to see if gathering those ingredients will be as easy as they think... I have a feeling some of it maybe prove to be a test...
Did get a great laugh out of Grim statement “Sanguine’s balls what the ..!” laughed right out loud at this lol...
Amazing shots.. loved the one as they stood talking to the driver trying to get him to bend his rules... and the ones in the reach when they stopped to eat... lovely shots all of them.. great chapter Jon
Most of this is a test, you are correct. The Water of Beauty was meant to give the group confidence and strength in future struggles by reminding them of their most positive and beautiful aspects; it was also meant to reveal hidden beauty that exists in most everyone, even those who are evil. Beauty that lays below the surface ... still waters run deep.
As my latest chapter shows, the soil of Rorikstead is meant to show simple beauty - that beauty does not have to be rich, epic, or immense in scope. It can be as simple as a butterfly or the work of an honest man.
Many thanks for the comments and glad you enjoyed the story, my oaths, and the images!
Interesting to see what will happen as they gather the rest of the needed ingredients! And my gosh looking at your shots & enb.. just wow. Sooo good looking!
Not exactly a friendly wake-up call from Cedran, though an understandable one. And Wolfgar's actions reminded me of a dog I had growing up. He was similarly protective whenever people he didn't immediately recognize came to the front door. (He even bit one of my brother's friends once, though not badly.) But he always let off and got friendly once said people were inside -- if we didn't mind them, then neither did he.
I got a bit of a smile at the fort, and Grim's "lesson" thereat. It seems no bandit is safe when Grim and Erik are around.
Jouane and Mralki seem pretty good-natured about Grim and Erik's (and Sam's) antics, so I guess they didn't really hurt anything. And I see Grim approves of Mralki's actions regarding that cursed dagger. I do wonder just what will happen about Ennis's goat -- but if the rest of this quest has been any indication, I may be pleasantly surprised.
And yes, I know full well how these stories can run longer than planned. Several of my chapters were planned as one part and posted as two or three. Speaking of which, you've also got me thinking of what Andil might do with Sam's quest when he eventually gets to it. (Not many hard ideas yet, but there is one thing I've been planning for a while. He's got a few other things to do first, though.)
Anyway, enjoyable as always, Jon!
P.S. -- I also saw your comment to Kamikazekossori, about how Grim might have some issues later from that vision of Erik. I imagine he might worry about darkening the man (and I can think of one upcoming event in particular that might bring out that worry). But like his earlier worry about being a monster, I think he'll get through it with a little help from his friends.
My own dog sounds very fierce and is a good deterrent to strangers but is otherwise a bit teddy bear. Still a young pup though. He is getting use to not having Glacier around but he is more clingy then normal.
I have a few twists planned - although sometimes I do just follow the actual plot line in the game lol. Should have the next one out tonight since I had most of it written.
You are also pretty much on target about your guess on Grim's concerns with Erik ...
