I see that honey stripes is pissed over the harm to her friend. "Khajiit will make him pay"
Heh heh...I have no doubts about that!!!
Brilliant work Kami!
She was seething indeed that one would harm Edrelle, a friend kind and sly, Mercer is in more trouble than he thinks
Thank you so much, Aok ^^
However it seems that Edrelle's mere presence inspires strange loyalty in people. Hence Karliah merely stunning her instead of killing her along with Mercer. She recognised that Edrelle was not one of Mercer's creatures right away.
The next chapter should be interesting - I wonder what Dimitri will do about Mercer's near deadly betrayal of Edrelle??
It seems others can see a hint of her kind heart in her eyes. Karliah is a very keen eyed thief, she knows as well as Edrelle how to read people's intentions, good that she recognized her as an ally.
Might be interesting indeed with Mercer on the run - he is sure be very angry about such a snake of a man nearly killing Edrelle, but the rest will be revealed in the next chapter
Excellent job describing the cold air, the frost on the pine needles, and the flakes of snow that forced her to done her full armor. You also did a great job describing Mercer and making him as nasty and arrogant as ever. Some people I feel guilty killing, Mercer is not one of them - his time will come. In the mean time Grim will learn from the Story of Edrelle as the bards sing of her tale among the taverns of Skyrim.
Mercer is certainly talented, have to give him that. But he is not only tghe guild master but a nightingale - he should be formidable. However he seems to be a bit over-confident IMO, always having to brag about what he can do. Or maybe that hides some inner-fear or insecurity.
Lucky for Edrelle that Karliah is not the evil traitor that Mercer makes her out to be. One reason to never take things for granted. In Karliah's case actions work better than Mercer's words - just as Mercers own actions in stabbing her showed his true motives.
Great story and images Alexi and looking forward to the next part. Grim will be following closely behind Edrelle :-)
I am delighted you found I did a good job describing those cold lands, that fall of flakes that made her don her hood. Glad I captured his arrogance, that disdain he has for all but himself. Treacherous sort that he is I don't have guilt about making him meet his fate either. She would be glad to hear that Grim follows her story in the songs of bards.
He does have his skill and he is a foe that one must not underestimate, he has kept his lie going for a while. I do agree that over-confidence is one of his weaknesses, he does like to speak of his own skill, I am sure he feels some insecurity.
It is lucky indeed that Karliah is far from what Mercer makes her out to be. Edrelle knows well to learn the truth herself instead of taking one at their word - something one learns in the world of thieves. She did show she was one to trust in her actions as Mercer showed he was the traitor.
Thank you very much, Jonathan, glad you look forward to it. Grim does seem to be catching up to Edrelle, I am curious to see how he deals with his next tasks
Edrelle had a really dangerous mission ahead of her, especially in such shady company as Mercer Frey. Her goodbyes to her friends were so heartwarming with Tacita once again acting as protective elder sister of Edrelle, her constant desire to keep her safe reflected in all its glory. Being a romantic person, I also loved the tender moments she spend with Dimitri, holding each other amidst the snow and him worried about her...
Honey Stripes continues to show her mastery at stealth art, too bad that to encounter with Mercer in those ruins Edrelle had to go alone... Her suspicions of Mercer arisen long before this quest and it was interesting how seeing him fight she already imagined what a difficult opponent he will prove to be.
Karliah reveal and the truth of Mercer's plans went as it was destined to be, though I feel bad for Edrelle, since she took an arrow and even if it meant to save, it still hurt, especially with Mercer's desire to finish her off... What a treacherous and cruel man he is, luckily for Edrelle Karliah has saved her and even has as plan of how to reveal the truth about Mercer and what happened in the past to other thieves guild members... I will be looking forward for continuation!
Was indeed a treacherous task that her journey through the snow brought her to with that Mercer in tow. I am very glad the her goodbyes to her friends warmed the heart, Tacita is very much like an older sister to her, glad that shows as well. I am a bit of a romantic as well, I though you might like the moments between Edrelle and Dimitri, sharing that hug among the leaves, part of my inspiration is your tales of Dannee.
Edrelle was inspressed by her show of skill, appearing and disappearing as if an illusion, Honey Stripes does wish she could have followed, seems almost like Mercer planned for that. She certainly did not have much trust for Mercer as she fought through those ruins, she did see the danger of his skill.
It was not quite the way Edrelle expected to learn the truth, with the sting of that arrow, was a painful way to save her, unable to escape Mercer's blade, his methods are twisted and cruel for sure. Edrelle is fortunate that Karliah showed herself to be an ally. I look forward to sharing that continuation
