Thanks! Got it working now For anyone else struggeling with this. with some experimenting, or "research" on the matter. (this assumes you already did the inv command and found the base ID of the item you want to remove. 1: Target said NPC 2: unequipitem <worn item> 3: removeitem <worn item> 4: additem <new item> 5: equipitem <new item>
This kept the new items worn when leaving the house and get back.
I read a thread that describes using the console commands removeitem <item ID> 1 and additem <item ID> 1 to permanently keep the outfit of your choice. It works ... the key is appending 1 at the end of each command. You also need to unequipitem her current outfit before equipitem the new item.

It seems I'm the only one still struggling with changing the outfits of the spouses.
I've tried the equip commands but as soon as I reload or leave the cell and come back they've changed to their old clothes.
