I think he should just off Astrid (Or push the little jester Cicero into it!)
Loved this line "then let loose a string of swear words that would’ve made Stig Salt-Plank blush."
That's pretty bad!!
Great chapter!
I must say Fleur looks extraordinary, and great storytelling as well as I squealed on the insides when I saw how long this one was!
I hope you're doing allright
/Jo
Really good work with the dialogue - so easy to follow. Just like sitting down and reading a good book with your favorite characters, even the ones you love to hate. The whole Riften thing stinks of any number of double deals, back-stabbing, and bad news.
The one thing I have always disliked most about the Thieves guild is their connection to the DB. If I decided to do that path the DB will be removed and Devon along with them (thanks to a mod). Anyhow only mention as I liked how you worked in that bit of lore that isn't well known about Devin.
Fantastic chapter and the images went very well with it - great job!
I recall ZuZu's meeting with a certain unknown Dark Brotherhood member (Astrid, I now VERY STRONGLY suspect), and how she wanted to arrange sweet Fleur's death....
Why do I have an ominous suspicion that there is definitely a connection between that little meeting and with our "merry little trio" just HAVING to travel to Riften here??
I just howled at: "How is the old furball?" ^^
I loved the interesting moral and intriguing philosophical discussions, arguments and counter-arguments between them, both with Astrid and after she (rather conveniently) took her leave from them, and also later, on the road.^^
Endorsed. Warm thanks for the good laugh, Jess, and cheers, dear!
A bit of a loooong and at times heavy chapter. Hoping subsequent ones are a bit lighter!
Thanks for your warm comments dear... very appreciated!!!
Well, it is very hard to know what to make of situation Rathe has found himself into and his anger is understandable, he feels himself like a puppet and poor Fleur has unwittingly once again became the source of his torment. In their conversation it is became as clear as it never before how young naïve and unexperienced she is comparing to Rathe. The same can be said about Darius, only he had never been so screwed up as Fleur. She seems at odds with herself, to succumb to Astrid brotherhood and become a killer or not, because there is not who she is. She so freaked out at her first kill and it is unforgettable that all her kills happened in self defense, nothing like cold blooded murder for money, but like a youngling she is, she tries to explain it to herself that her first target as well as others if she will make it are “bad” people, who deserve death. That is such a defense of mind, but Rathe I think is right, she wants to become the one in control, to show domination after herself being dominated and degraded… This is one of common courses of rape victim, to become aggressive and unleash her hurt on others or close herself from everyone and become totally obscure, like some shadow… I wonder will there ever be a peace for Fleur? Though I must admit, if her target is Regan, it would be awesome, that is one cold blooded kill or rather vengeance kill I would want to see from sweet Fleur and she better make it as agonizing for the one who ruined her life as Rathe once made it for Albino, after all vengeance calls for it…
And their scenes together also showed how screwed they both are with each other, not knowing what to do… Interesting that despite all brutality inflicted on her Fleur continues to feel tingles of desire for Rathe while he is still over his heels for her, only won’t admit it openly. They so much need to talk normally, but I bet it will be difficult with Darius around. This lad keeps me intrigued – is he as green and simple as Rathe and Astrid see him or there is something more in him, like this situation with the cure…
Still Astrid cracked me up with her advice just to dump him in the temple and forget about the lad altogether. He, she sure dislikes Darius a lot but I am also sure she is up to new schemes again, putting them together and sending to Riften of all places… I am very intrigued how it will turn out and look forward for the continuation! Thank you very much for sharing your awesome work!
I think you're pretty bang on when it comes to Fleur. She is so naieve in so many ways despite the horrible thing that happened to her, and the only way she can envision coping with that thing is to lash out at others; all the while telling herself THEY'RE the bad people. Delusional almost. I think Rathe needs to step up and stop her doing something that will totally finish off the last shreds of innocence she has left...
Yep, Darius. The fifth wheel. The fly in the ointment. But is he just hanging around for Fleur (puppy love) and someone to feel sorry for because of his bad situation with his father... or is he the knife in the darkness??
As I said in the past; there's about 15 more chapters to go till this story comes to its end. The count down is on.
Great shots and great story

It's all Astrid's fault. She knows how to push his buttons! Thanks again for your comments and support hon.
