The elements are just as useful in battle as any blade and shield, never forget that.
My spellmaster was never the conventional type, but he did agree with some of the teachings of his colleagues.
Where he differed, is in the theory that while magic is a most useful tool during a battle, it should not be the only one you use. There are advantages to using traditional weapons like swords and others armaments.
So I was trained by two people. The Spellmaster, and his wife - a Swordmistress of some renown in her time. I spent years with them, learning to hone both sets of skills, to combine their use and even create some of my own techniques to advance the art.
Then, the letter arrived. I was to be sent to Skyrim on a mission. I was to leave my identity behind, making use of a false name and history. Others would help me in my task, my name to them was different.
I was known only as "The Imperial Blade".
A title once held by my Mother apparently. I was to find, and if possible collect the artifacts of the Daedric Princes. By any and all means.
Once I had them, They would be taken from this land and used in covert efforts against the Dominion.
There is a problem though. I believe they could be made use of in the war efforts of this country, and I will not allow them to be taken from me until the war is resolved.
I hereby resign from the legion. I find I will work better without the constraints of "officially duty" and "Imperial legislation".
May this letter reach you swiftly General Tullius, it will be my last.
