About this image
In Norse Mythology, Nat was the norse goddess of the night. When Odin and his brothers created the world from Ymir's body, they felt it should be regulated by periods of day and night. Nat was a 'dark and dusky' giantess who was so beautiful, she had three husbands. Odin gave her the 'Cloak of Darkness' which brought night to the land, rest to the toiler and dreams to all. Nat captured the sparks that flew out of Muspellheim and arranged them onto her cloak and all over her hair.
