Thanks! Aye he has gained new skills as well. I can send him to hunt and catch his own food; have him attack and return kills; and a few other commands. Once he becomes a full adult he will be able to help Grim a great deal in combat.

Great continuation about Grim guest to save Thorald and deal with the Thalmor, wonderfully written and with awesome and atmospheric shots! I like it how Grin carefully planned his attack, how he wanted to know their surroundings there, the number of his enemies... It is very logical and he has gone a long way from being carefree lad who had misfortune to tot himself in the hands of the Thalmor... Great scenes, where Grim have used his abilities to see the fort through hawk's eyes, to unite his and that bird minds, to feel that incredible sense of freedom the wings can give... Also it was very sweet how Grim had counted on Wolfgar to bring him back, the bond they two share is amazing.
And the fights scenes were wonderfully depicted too, Grim used his werewolf form to attack and I am not surprised since it is a great benefit. The Thalmor stood no chance against such sudden attack and since he can heal himself by devouring their hearts, he made a very powerful adversary. That it will be a lesson to them, never underestimate humans... or werewolves.
The only thing in truth that is bugging me about every werewolf in Skyrim is that corpses eating thing... Well in beast form I am sure werewolf doesn't care since he is a predator and those are his victims. I can understand this, though I wonder when he reverts to his human form, how Grim copes with this?

Honestly it bugs me to which is why I every single time I made a werewolf based character they ended up being deleted. Grim is the only one to last. In the end it is purely psychological though. For example meat eaters have no problem with eating the flesh of other animals - hearts, livers, brains, thighs, etc. Most humans think nothing of it. From the perspective of animals it is the same - they eat whatever there prey is. Toss in supernatural fantasy and it is still the same - humans are food for Vampires for example. In the end it comes down to the idea ... well if its not my "race" (race being more generic in this case to include all humans for example) then it is okay ... with some issues being more complex when you toss in sentient beings. Even there you have all the debate about levels of intelligence in animals. As an example - it is okay to eat chickens and tuna fish but there is a sense of revulsion at the idea of eating monkeys and dolphins.

With that in mind if Grim is in Werewolf form he is a different race. Further the person is dead. At that point it doesn't matter. Psychologically it is gross but dead is dead. I haven't published the next story but you will see I address this briefly. In general he finds it very unsettling.

It is why he refuses to hunt, skin, eat, or do anything like that to wolves. He abhors wolf skin armor and has been known to attack people who wear such armor. To him it is as bad as making armor out of human skin.

However I will tell you that Grim is moving away from the whole heart thing, it is the only way I will be able to play him. He is *NOT* a creature of Hircine even if they are related by blood. He is closer to a druid or shaman in his ability to take on beast form. Eating hearts will increase his healing but is not required for anything else. He also doesn't eat just any hearts - just those of his enemies. Still he does it less and less as he gains more control and synergy between his human and wolf form. As the two forms get closer and closer he is less able to separate the animal/predator from the human intellect and psychology.

Grim is a predator and a mercenary, he is no saint. But he is also good and does not wish to be a monster. When he first became a werewolf, that eventful night (which is what my next chapter covers), he had very little control. The first few times he had no real memory of being in wolf form. Over time he is learning control over the animal instincts. He still needs those instincts to be a good hunter but far more powerful to combine them with human intellect ... but that also means dealing with human morals and ethics.

He kills far less than most soldiers, bandits, or villains do so while he has regrets over who he has killed (as I am sure Dannee does as well) he has, to the best of his knowledge and ability, limited it to self-defense and killing those who prey on innocents and the weak.

So in the end he has eaten some hearts, almost exclusively Thalmor ones (plus a few very evil bandits or in extreme cases where he was going to die and needed the healing), but he is reaching the point where that is no longer necessary.

Out of character this means I have adjusted my personal mod in stages so as he matures he gets very small increases to health regeneration naturally in werewolf form. My rational is that he is pulling from the very power of the living world around him to heal himself. So as he masters his form and abilities he won't need the "heart/corpse" eating healing that comes from Hircines side of the family. Instead he learns to heal from the natural world which comes from Fenrirs side of the family.

Lol sorry that got a bit long - bit this is all stuff I have for my lore on Grim so maybe it helps explain why I am more comfortable with playing Grim as a hero and even as a small reflection of myself projected into the game. In the end Grim is following the traditional heroes path where he doe shave some tragic mistakes and many conflicting moral dilemmas but, hopefully, will end up becoming a true hero and protector of Tamriel.

Thank you very much for such long and detailed answer! Yeah, I think what bugs many people is that werewolves devour humans.. And by the way, interesting thing, vampires who do the same, only they drink blood seem to be less bugging people in their hunting habits... It is strange, yet even tv shows and movies seems to favor vampires and their ways over werewolves, while they both are two predator kinds that hunt for humans.

It is great to know that Grim moves away from the hearts thing more and more, I think to refuse the way similar to the way of Hircine's werewolves could be a great victory, it is like conquering your own darker side... For me what is most upsetting about werewolves that they could loose control and prey in anyone, even innocent people but luckily Grim controls himself, being nothing like Hircine's "children' and he hunts only for Thalmor, bandits and other criminals, using his powers, all of them for good.

I very much like Grim's character and his unique friendship with Wolfgar is absolutely awesome and heartwarming. Looking at little Wolfgar is is understandable that Grim acknowledges his wolfish side and abhors the wolf skin armor. It is one of his sides. As for being saint... well, I think no one in Skyrim is a saint in our way of understanding this concept, all Skyrim people have to fight and kill for survival, be it animals or other humans. Grim is a very good person in my perception, capable of love, friendship, he tries to do the right thing and these are admirable qualities.
I am looking forward for the continuation of his tale to know more about him and his past!

Thanks again - appreciate the feedback and always enjoy these types of discussions. I consider vampires far more evil then werewolves of any sort even if they don't have to kill their victims. To me they are undead, an abombination against nature. Now that does not mean all are evil any more than all WW's are evil. For instance I rather like Serena and always help her, even Grim will although it does tick off his dad when he does

But, besides being undead, they deal with souls and necromancy a lot more. They enslave humans and are far more nefarious and evil.

Anyhow you are right about Grim - he is far more a creature of Fenrir and is able to control his bloodlust in much the same way a professional fighter can control their anger in a fight to prevent them from making mistakes. They use the anger to fuel their energy and strength. Grim is learning to do the same.

This set of stories I am working on is the turning point for him as he faces his past and ... well you will see

Wonderful shots, love the ones where he was hawk and how he trusted his friend to protect him and help bring him back to himself need be, the lose of that connection with the hawk. the freedom of becoming his wolf and that freedom of not feeling the same remorse us humans do with feeding to stay strong.. great shots of the end of the Thalmor within that fort.. I cant wait to read what comes next

Thank you Heaven! I tend to enjoy exploring the mixture of nature/animal/beast/human aspects with Grim and Wolfgar. We have no way of knowing what goes on in an animals mind, we can only interpret from an external vantage point, but I enjoy thinking about it. We are all animals at the core - we just overlay our instincts with our civilized behavior and intellect (well some of us do lol) - so I like to see how Grim handles the balance of bouncing back and forth between the two. I think animals live very much in the "now" myself so Grim has to struggle to keep his sense of self when joining with them. Wolf form is a bit different as that is part wolf and part man.

Anyhow just philosophical goobly-gook I like to think about I have been working on the next chapter for about two weeks now and finally have the images I need and the story outline. Just need to fine time to finish writing and doing some simple proofing.

That way he used the honing of his blade to clam his mind kind of reminded me of something I read in a novel about phrases that a blacksmith or other such craftsmen would repeat in their head to stay focused, I can see how that repetitive task could bring him some calm. It is a very handy ability that Fenrir had granted him in seeing through the eyes of beasts, to share a mind for a few moments to see beyond what his eyes could. As even he expected those guards denied that Thorald even existed, not letting him through even with forged orders. They did get quite the shock indeed it seems as his savage form returned, interesting how his human mind still wakes in that state, regretting those lives lost, I wonder what her will find in the dark halls of that fort

Somewhat like I am doing now - which is data entry on a bunch of student records for a merger we are doing with another database. Boring but also a bit zen as it doesn't tax the mind and lets me whip through the day :-)

Grim works for a group of mercenaries who are expert spies and infiltrators so forging was not an issue, but the Thalmor are pretty tight on who they let in. I got some nice images for the inside and hope it entertains.

Thanks for the nice feedback Kami!
