Yeah, I like the way Galmar looks, you can almost read a "WTF..." in his face.

I played the civil war on both sides I feel more comfortable on the imperial side. Even if they banned Talos worship which is a sacrilege if you ask me, the Stormcloak campaign felt just "wrong" on so many occasions. I for instance *like* Jarl Balgruuf...

But everybody to his own, after all, its just a cpmputer game.

I'm not sure I like this trend in rpg's where one side IS right and one side DOES right.

An other example of this would be dragon age 1 where one of the dwarves wants to keep the cast system, wants to shut the dwarves off from the world and likes slavery. Yet he's the honorble one and the "democratic" one.

The other dwarf wants to be high king, ban slavery, get rid of the cast system and open up communications with other races and factions yet he's the douche bag and "evil" one who associate with criminal gangs.

      To translate this into skyrim:

The stormcloaks ARE right and the imperials DO right.

The stormclaks wants to be able to worship Talos, they want to be free from the white-gold concordat and aldmeri rule. They have the "ballz" to be free but not the brains required to be free. Their rebellion also brings about a fair share of nationalism and raceism. Thus sideing with them makes you think the aftermath of doing so is going to be pretty grim. They will know peace for a while before the dominion mobilize with the empire and invade skyrim, declaring marshall law and becoming a permanent occupation force.

The imperials are smart enough to realize that Tamriel need to stand united against the dominion to have a shot at being free yet they lack the courage to fight them. They also realize that trade will benefit Skyrims economy and strenghten their diplomatic position in Tamriel. Sideing with them makes you think Skyrim might become strong and wealthy but will NEVER be free anyway because the empire lacks the conviction to ever break free from the dominion.

It gets very uninteresting because you're only given the option to support a tyrant for the good cause or democracy for the wrong cause.

The third option in Skyrim being completely mute both storywise and gameplaywise. You can still choose to support either side after the greybeard meeting and they even point out peace will not last long and might have already been broken by either side.

I think it would be better if the player were given REAL values to reject or stand behind. I think most people can agree Ulfric is right about fighting the dominion and the Talos ban but that he goes about it the wrong way i.e Killing the high king and inadvertently fighting the Empire and freedom of other races in Skyrim in the process.

It turns into the simple question of whether the player is an idealist (stormcloak) or a pragmatic (imperial supporter) or an indecisive prat (greybeard meeting).
