WHAT? What do you mean here?! Talkin' about plot twist...
And Fleur has changed a great deal... and I'm not talking about her fiery red hair! She grew up, so it seems, becomes... colder? Maybe more cynical? And there is something between her and that handsome piece of sweets with dark hair, I know it. Poor Rathe... or maybe not so poor. After all, thinking that he would find the same Fleur, sweet and innocent, was foolish.
Now on to the next chapter!

I love your outrage at Darius poking his nose in and getting between the two!! The next chapter will provide some serious answers to all of those questions (I WISH I'd published it at the same time!! Might have saved you guys a lot of angst!)

It seems Fleur apparently already has a boyfriend??^^ (Rathe's long-tortured heart just shattered into smithereens)
Darius, son of Festus, is a handsome young lad in the same age-range as sweet Fleur....how can a grizzled ol' drunk like Rathe even HOPE to compete with that?
Poor, lovelorn Rathe once AGAIN gets totally BURNED (un)romantically, his deeply good-intentioned heart seems to bring him nothing but more and MORE pain.
At least Rathe need not worry about Fleur's soul being "darkened" anymore....THAT concern is now totally moot!
If Rathe truly wants to let Fleur go, to NOT be involved with her life anymore as he once claimed with painfully tight chest and a tortured heart to Sighne/Astrid, then Darius is as good an incentive as any to simply go....
The HARDEST part of love IS letting go....
Hopefully, somewhere, Rathe may still find a beautiful woman inside and out, who'll love him as much as he is capable of loving her, if not more.

What is it with poor Rathe and his seeming NON-EXISTANT luck with women??
His heart always tries so freaking hard to do the right thing, but instead of working, it totally backfires on him!
I agree completely, Wolf: Rathe needs to move on, Fleur is safe and happy now, she has found her first real boyfriend, and it's NOT him.
Mara and Dibella are total b*tches when it comes to "blessing" him....
One wonders if he'd be better off with their CURSES....^^
There is only ONE thing left for Rathe to do now, besides sober-up: fulfill his blood-oath to kill Momma Zuzu as he promised he would if anything happened to Fleur....well, it DID, and now, payback is imminent or Rathe's word cannot be trusted, it's that simple.
Afterward....who knows....

If anything Rathe has gone out of his way time and time again to help and protect her and she ... she is pretty much a completely ungrateful ... person. Actually now that I think about it I find I actually dislike her more and more. At least Astrid you know what you are getting and can admire her for that. Fleur is worse in some ways (and this is where I have to really restrain my comments so will leave it at that lol ).
I swear by the nine that Rathe would be much better off killing Astrid, dumping the ever so high maintenance Fleur, and then getting a good, loyal, and simple companion like Meeko or Garm :p They can then have fun adventures together and enjoy some peace in a nice quiet cabin some place.
But then that would be boring and the story would end way to quick and then I would have nothing to look forward to each week on Nexus when you post
PS - Hope everyone knows I am just having some fun here, Jess does amazing writing and I fully enjoy it!
Sometimes I wonder if you're in the back of my mind when I torment Rathe (thinking, oh THIS will get WGD's blood boiling!). Nah, seriously, I understand your anger towards Fleur and having re-looked at this chapter I realise what a huge mistake it was for me not to publish the NEXT chapter immediately after because the next chapter explains a helluva lot about what's going on.
Had to have a chuckle about Rathe ditching Astrid and Fleur and getting a Garm or Meeko! Very nice idea!!
Keep an eye out for the 'explanation chapter' coming tonight (if the Nexus lets me post it!)
