I can totally imagine her shutting up Haelga just by looking at her lol
With her most mischievous gaze she certainly can leave one without words
Sorry I can't offer more comments,
since I'm always amazed by your story and how you treat this part very well.
All I could say,
Edrelle never let me down for sure
Don't worry about it, quite a bit has already been said
it is flattering to hear that you are amazed by my tales and I am glad you like Edrelle's idea on how to do that task
Edrelle would surely like to hear those encouraging words
As I commented on your last story I was intrigued how she "failed" the first quest and for a trial run I did that with Grim and it worked great. However I ended up deleting that and ... well if you read any of my tales you know he has decided to put that decision on the back burner for a month or two while he figured out who and what he is.
So I am enjoying your story of Edrelle as it is helping give me some ideas and I like how you approach everything. I will admit that this particular quest line, when I did it before while I was still figuring out what to do with Grim (I ended up restarting as mentioned), I didn't really feel to bad about this one. You borrow money you have to pay it back. That these three were trying to weasel out of this debt obligation didn't warrant much sympathy from me (unlike what Sapphire did to that poor stable hand).
You are very creative and I am familiar with the entire quest line, as last year I did it with another character (who I never finished as he got to dark), so very eager to see how far you take Edrelle.
How do you feel about the two main moral issues the guild can bring to a good character? In other words there is being a thief in and of itself. I can rationalize that okay. Robin Hood, Captain Jack Sparrow, Aladdin ... all charming and "good" thieves IMO. That is how I see Grimulfr - one of those types.
But the other moral issue is bringing the guild back to power. By helping them you bring them back into power. Granted if you don't want to be guild master you can skip all the quests that reinstate them in other holds ... so that is an option. For Grim he needs to be guild master if he is going to use the guild for its resources and spy network. He also ponders if he could make it something "good". In some fantasy books I have read the thieves guild has sometimes had a more positive role in maintaining order and helping out against greater evil/threats. Perhaps get the more savage bandits under control and redistribute the wealth and create some guild rules ...
Anyhow will Edrelle need to get them back in power, even if only in Riften? I will be very curious to see how you handle this if you go that far!
Very well written and I enjoy your style a lot. Like you and Corfus I like the rogues and have a romanticized view of them so struggle with treating them like your fun anti-hero fantasy style character versus the real life criminal type.
I do remember that comment about her "failing" of that quest, that little bit of false bad luck, I am glad it worked out for Grim in that trial run. I have followed that questioning Grim is having about what path he wants to follow, searching for that persons he is.
I am happy to hear that you are enjoying Edrelle's tale and that it is giving you a few ideas about how to approach the guild in your tale. It is true that this task is not so bad but for Edrelle it really is not something she did in the past as a thief so she finds it a little distasteful, especially since it gives her a bit of a false reputation.
I am flattered you find I am very creative, I am quite familiar with the quest line too, my earliest character having gone through those quests, it is interesting to guide her path through those quests.
There is indeed a bit of a moral dilemma in joining the guild, finding the information she seeks leading her to help the guild return to its former glory, that difference between the rogue and the shadowy organization. I like to think that with a different influence than that of Mercer, someone could give it a more positive role as you said, that though is surely floating around her head.
We will have to see when she finds that information, how she will have helped the guild in Riften
I am very glad you enjoy my style. They are an intriguing type of character those rogues, I can see how you could have a bit of a struggle there with that romanticized view. Thanks a lot for sharing those through, those interesting questions to think about, Wolfgrimdark ^^
nice work Kami
Edrelle is a confident sort, with that self-assured retort when asked about her journey through the Ratway. Also, I like how she covered her concerns about the task revealed for her with a confident smile. After all, she's Laughign Fox I think she also feels protective over her companions, going alone to the shop, not wanting them to look bad.
Her memories of her "quiet friend" were really well written! Could that be Tacita that Edrelle though of so fondly and tried to mimic while talking to Bersi?
Edrelle truly has a heart of gold - it's good to see she didn't forget she needs to join the guild for information only and she doesn't really want to intimidate those people. That little talk she had with Keerava was amazing!
Let me tell you, the description of Haelga was spot on! Good to see she didn't cause any trouble to our merry band.
Our perceptive Fox can recognize bad seed when she sees it, so it seems. There is surely something off about Mercer. I cannot wait for more of the tale now!
As always, the shots are fantastic, very atmospheric and beautiful.
Wonderfully written chapter, my dear, great job!
Kami hon - brilliant as always and Kayol really took the words out of my mouth!
Just mesmerising work as always and I love your continued unravelling of Edrelle. Beware of Mercer Frey...
She always was oddly kind for a thief, when she has a certain task she really tried to stick to it without losing herself. I am flattered you like her whispered words with Keerava so ^^
I did try to capture a bit of Haelga's personality, it is nice to hear you say that I really got her right. I am sure Edrelle was glad she did not cause trouble too.
Having been in the world of thieves before she does have that instinct about those shadier sorts, those dangers that may appear.
Good to hear the shots are so lovely, that they have that atmosphere to them once more.
Thanks a bunch, dear Kayol ^_^
