Thanks for all the comments and I hope I didn't offend anyone ... As I explained in a couple of comments below I needed something very powerful and emotional to break Grims self-control for a moment. As Jess astutely noticed he is a noble and good guy in his heart and seeing what the bandits did was to much for him. Plus it has ties to his past (another flashback story I have planned). It was hard to write but an important aspect to his character as he is very protective towards the innocent and those unable to protect themselves. Saving Wilfgar, helping Eir and Skjaldwulf, assisting Grosta, and getting revenge by wiping the bandit scum of the planet are all aspects of that. Appreciate all the feedback as I am 110% enjoying Grim and writing his tales.

"The jug explored as the arrow hit it" Did it? That's quite an enterprising young oil jug, I gotta say

Nice story, dark and depressing just the way I like it. Grim and his wolf pup are growing on me. What mod did you use for the wolf? Oh, and the werewolf shadow on the wall looks fantastic!

Thanks and glad you like the stories - I have plenty of them. Proofing has never been my strong suit although I try to do it more often than I have in the past. The werewolf is many things. Grim has his own custom mod (grimulfr.esp) that I made, based of my "Wolf-Blooded" race mod, and for the werewolf I use textures by bellyache, teeth by 83willow, sounds from a werewolf sound mod that I can't recall the name right now, a night eye mod from someone, werewolves feel, werewolf run animation, think thats all of them ... just little mods I put together. I don't use any of the big ones although debating moonlight tales.

Lately everyone's been writing such mature stuff, filled with bitterness and horrors of the world. Damn, I need to increase the number of fluffy bunnies in my scribblings...
The part with the killed and... used... children was really tough to swallow. But also very well developed. I enjoyed this piece very much. The journey of your Grim - both in literal and metaphorical sense - is really intreresting.

Thanks Kayol and no worries I don't normally write this dark. As I commented on Jess' post it makes me uncomfortable to write such things even though I know they exist. Grim has some depth (to me at least since he is full fledged in my mind) but I wanted to convey some of who he is in the story and needed something intense to justify the loss of his normaly iron-willed self control. Plus I needed to hint at his past when he was captured by the Thalmor and tortured for following Talos (and Fenrir for that matter). But that will be another story (and should be fun as I will have to make him look young ... luckily there are some good face textures for that).

This was an enthralling chapter dear! I was shocked by the brutality those bandits perpetrated on children (and really shouldn't be since I myself write about the horrors of skyrim), and can full well understand why Grim's beast took control and went on a slaughtering spree.
He's such a just and noble sort that it just must have rent him up to see that sight.

I love his swearing "fetch" - that's such a cool touch!

Also, I love the way that he feels as though he's got souls sort of swirling about inside him "wonderful, now I've got two of you in there" - this brought a smile to my lips.

Just love your stories dear and Grim is just the best character!

Thanks - I did a lot of hunting through all the histories of the TES games to get a list of lore friendly swear phrases and words, not a lot of them but managed to pick up a few

The section on the kids ... that was hard but I have been reading fantasy since I was able to hold a book and have also studied numerous mythologies, medieval and ancient history and the thing is, in the old days (and even now), this behavior wasn't unusual sadly. Probably to much for skyrim but since Grim is a master of self-control I needed a rational for why he lost it. I wanted a reason for him to visit his darker side for a little - as Jung would say we all have our shadow archetype and it is best if we know it and accept it so it doesn't take us over.

There won't be to much like that though - it makes me uncomfortable to write such things even if they do exist.

Very interesting story! Emotions of protagonist, who had to meet face to face with his new purpose, describes the incredibly deeply... so deeply that a reader feels them as your own.
