About this image

I remember her face, so bright and happy. She was everything to me, the light in my darkness. She had blonde hair like her father, but grey colored eyes like mine. Every time I looked at her smile and saw her missing front teeth, I found it strange that it made her even more adorable. I even remember when they fell out and how panicked she was at the taste of blood in her mouth. It was an innocence I wish she could keep forever.

"Mommy, mommy! Look at this flower! It's so pretty and growing in the rocks all by itself! Why is it alone mommy? The butterflies will never find it if it's alone!"

I looked at the flower she pointed out, and remembered it's name - the lion lilly. It was a beautiful golden flower that was known for being able to grow in harsh terrain. But to my daughter's eyes, it was just a lonely flower, separated from the fields she was used to seeing around our farm in the spring.

"Silly girl, that's a lion lilly! It's one of the toughest flowers in all of Skyrim, and it's job is to bring beauty and color to the darkest parts of Skyrim! It's not alone at all, look!"

A lone butterfly descended from one of the rocky cliffs and flew directly to the lion lilly. It was a bright blue butterfly, and my daughter jumped in excitement as it landed on it's golden petals.

"Mommy it's not alone after all! The butterfly found it!"

"Of course not my little lion, everything that lives in this world is never alone."

I immediately tackled my daughter and proceeded to tickle her with reckless happiness. We rolled around in the dry grass until her giggles could no longer keep up with her breaths. I laid down with her and held her tight as we watched the butterfly finally fly away. Kissing her cheek, I made her a promise.

"Just like how that flower is not alone, neither are you. I will always be there to protect you, to comfort you, and to love you."

She looked at me with eyes that yearned for her youth to never end. Her love was the only purity in my life. She was my greatest wish, and my deepest joy.

She was my little lion.
