Sent to the ruins to be tested against the walking corpses within, a required trial and a waste of time.

The Greybeards know the results, I think they just wanted me away from the fortress for a time.
They worry, about the world, about Alduin, about Paarthanax and about me...

No, that's not right. It's not me they fret over. It's what I can and could do. I understand their fears, this gift is so easily used that misusing it is a very real problem.

I think then, and I wonder. Misused? By whose standards? The voice is something all people can learn over time, this I know from the Greybeards themselves... They were not chosen to receive the power, they learned the words, and the ways to draw their power forth.

There is still a war raging in these lands, one that I have been kept from. Told it was not my place to interfere. Even Paarthanax was hesitant of allowing me outside the halls of High Hrothgar at this time. I'm afraid that Alduin arrived back to the world at the perfect moment for his purpose.

This conflict fuels him, gives him the strength to raise his brethren. I have already seen them in the distance, sailing on the harsh nordic winds of our land. They will begin soon, and I will be there to get in the way. They are my brothers in spirit, but we are not alike.

This world will remain, I shall see to it even if it means my end.

The real war will start soon, and I doubt I will be able to avoid it, but for now I shall play the Greybeards little game, battling the undead and the creatures that infest the old tombs and strongholds. You never know, I might find something useful amongst the wreckage of the ancient times.

Time will tell...
