My high elf mage character was attacking some poor bandits with chain lightning. In retrospect this was a bad idea, since the lightning bolt then branched out and hit my companion Uthgerd. "I'm on your side!" she yelped. I guess this is why mages are often disliked. Oh well, chain lightning does sometimes come in handy, as my character killed two wolves at once a short time later.
