About this image

Here we go again, thought Bri, readying her blade and shield as she set forth thru the hole in the mountainside. Ready to memorize the twists and turns of yet another rocky labyrinth should she need to make a hasty retreat, she gave her eyes time to adjust...

... and behold- a forest.

Brianna had come upon an underground sanctuary, filled with trees and dominated by a monolithic stone tower in the chasm's center. The not-so-little grove was complete with pools of crystal-clear mountain water, inhabited by rabbits, birds, butterflies...

... and wolves. And bears. And spriggans commanding sabre cats. So much for sight-seeing, she growled to herself, dropping into a fighting stance as the first dog's claws met her shield.

So yeah, compared to Oblivion, Bethesda has come really far when it comes to dungeon design. Found this one while doing a quest for one of the beggars in Solitude, and there's another one near Whiterun without a roof. And that's not to mention Blackreach, which I've delved into three times before I found all its lifts (still missing some red nirnroots, I think).

They've also cranked up the challenges. I added the bears to my lil story for fun, but I wasn't kidding about the spriggans, wolves, and the sabre cat. Tough competition for a level 6- I've had to adjust the difficulty level quite often to survive some of the nastier attacks.

Oh, and say hello to my new old character! After the bit in the main quest about a time-wound, I thought it would no longer be unprecedented to bring my lil elven crusader forward a couple centuries. Brianna Cirrus is back in the name of Talos and the Empire, and is looking to make sure the Thalmor know it! Will get some shots of my lovely new Epic Elf up soon, maybe once I get Spell Breaker and Dawnbreaker.
