For some reason, I had wrist seams - didn't notice since I had gloves on all this time. Got rid of the wrist seams and ended up with neck seams. Some more time later, fixed both.

The end result? Aela looking confused after appearing, spinning around, undressing, redressing, disappearing, and rinse and repeat for about an hour more or less.
