About this image

The path of shadows sometimes leads to realms no man nor mer was meant to tread. Cold and bitter places that twist and writhe in the corners of your vision, and which change those within. Those who emerge from the dark are often different from when they first entered. Then there are those who do not return at all, but we will not speak of them here. They tend to listen.

Becoming a vampire changes the gaming experience, especially with mods installed. For one thing I would avoid daylight at all costs, even if it meant going hungry for a bit. Then there's a certain necessity of remaining hidden, even moreso than before, so as to feast on those unfortunate souls who have ventured too far from the rest. One thing I have noticed, though, was how most of my survival mods switched themselves off. I no longer required food or water, which meant I could pursue certain targets for as long as I wished, without fear of my personal needs. Weather had no impact on this body either, so straying from the roads into the wilderness became easier as well. Darkness did not impair my vision either, for I was a child of the night, and whereas most victims would stumble around blindly in the dark, I could see as clear as day. I started feeling less like a mortal and more like one who had transcended life and death, requiring only blood to maintain my new powers and sanity, and a resting place to wait for the dreaded sun to pass.

At one point I noticed something, however.
No need for food or water?
No regard for the harsh climate of the north?
No need for torches or any light sources to see in the dark?

I was playing vanilla Skyrim.

I fear becoming a vampire has made me a weaker person.
