Through a small bug, I managed to get third-person shots of the Helgen sequence. it's remarkably bug-free, given that we're never meant to see it.

The default appearance is actually a red-headed male nord. You can do it in vanilla too by opening console, typing in "enableplayercontrols" without quotes and wala! You can move the camera.

@Thanya: Nope! The bug I mentioned in the image description basically stems from the fact that I'm running Alternate Start - Live Another Life. You make your character and choose where you want them to start; when I chose Helgen for this character after creating her, I was in third person. Thus, I ended up with a third-person Helgen sequence.

So no, this is not the default appearance for characters
