Veren Dreloth is a Dark Elf who fled Morrowind after the eruption of Red Mountain. By committing petty crimes in order to survive he quickly became hated by the Nords of Windhelm and tasted the blood of his first victim after not much time. Veren was recruited by the Dark Brotherhood due to the grotesque and unique methods of killing without leaving a trail. But Veren didn't find joy in killing as his brothers did, and only killed out of anger and revenge. Because of this, Veren slowly spent less time at the sanctuary and traveled to Whiterun when he heard rumors of a woman who could see in to the future.

Lurog gro-Boga in an Orc who grew up in the stronghold of Dushnikh Yal and joined the Imperial Legion following the long tradition of males in his clan. Lurog was stationed in the Pale and met Valus during the siege of Fort Dunstad and quickly became very close. Once Fort Dunstad was taken many of the soldiers were put on Auxiliary status serving on a part time basis, so to stay in shape and master more devastating weapons than the Imperial Swords, Lurog joined up with the Companions of Whiterun.

Valus Jarol is an Imperial who grew up in Cyrodiil near Lake Arrius not far north of Cheydinhal. He joined the Imperial Legion at a young age and was sent to Skyrim to help put down the rebellion. Valus was stationed in the Pale and met Lurog during the attack of Fort Dunstad, and when he was put on Auxiliary status he traveled to Winterhold to study destruction at the College in order to become more well rounded in fighting. Valus began doing small bounty contracts in order to fund his research and to test all of his fighting styles, and over a few months slowly studied less and adventured more. When traveling to Whiterun after hearing of a wanted Giant, Valus found his old friend Lurog and met Veren.
