Skyrim

"If you limit yourself to doing things that nobody will find fault with, you will not do much."

Relics of Hyrule will not be coming to consoles for several reasons, which I will try to explain very concisely. There is no leeway on this, and nothing will change my mind about it.

1. It's too big.
Relics of Hyrule is constantly growing, and both consoles have a filesize limit. I would not want to give console users a stripped-down, inferior version of the mod, or cut content.

2. SKSE is not supported on consoles.
I would have to rebuild several scripts, again giving console users a different, likely inferior experience. Even if SKSE is made available for consoles, I cannot guarantee scripts will work properly.

3. It's very closely based on Nintendo property.
I have said in the past version of the main description that, "My philosophy is that a Skyrim mod should respect the core game, rather than using it as a platform to remake another" and "This mod does not turn Skyrim into a Zelda game, nor does it use Skyrim's engine to remake any Zelda game." These phrases were meant to explain my reasoning for making the mod, and to tell players what to expect. With the advent of console mods, the context of these phrases changed. Just because Relics of Hyrule does not remake Zelda or use Zelda assets does not mean it is free from legal restrictions. I simply do not want to open the potential can of worms that would arise from putting a sword named the Master Sword that looks exactly like Nintendo's iconic Master Sword on the XBox One. Just because other mod authors have already done so does not mean it's okay.

4. I do not own a PS4 or XBox One.
I wouldn't be able to properly test the mod on consoles without one, and I don't plan on buying one.

5. I do not have the time to maintain three versions of the mod.
A Special Edition of the mod will require extra hours of work to maintain, and a console version would as well, due to its restrictions. This added development time would be exhausting, and quite frankly, would risk killing the mod.

6. No portion of the mod will be ported, for the same reasons listed in #3 and #5.

I will not be making a port, nor will I authorize one. If you see Relics of Hyrule on any console (XBox, PS4, Switch, etc.), it is an unauthorized port.

Relics of Hyrule will not be available for consoles. There is nothing that will change my stance on this, so please do not waste my time or your time.
Please do not ask me to port Relics of Hyrule to consoles or authorize a port.

While personally, I find the other 4 reasons more respectable and better cause for respecting you, #3 is the biggie that would get you ( and who knows who all else in this lawyer-happy world) in the biggest trouble. Good reasons for what turns out to be the only possible (if somewhat unfortunate for others) choice. Keep up the great work.

Thanks. #3 is really the reason I made this article.
