Skyrim

This is a little tutorial I put together to teach you how to merge patches, which should help to reduce the amount of Esps in your load order.

Merging add-ons / patches:

1. Load the patches that you want to merge into Tes5Edit.

2. Multi - select the category "Non Player Character (Actor)" in each of the add-ons that you want to merge.

3. Rightclick and pick the option "Deep copy as override into". In the following window choose "New File". Name the file to your liking, i.e. "NPCs Protected Redux - Merged Patches".

4. Manouver to the newly created file. Rightclick on it and pick the option "Sort masters".

5. Done! Your merged add-ons / patches file is ready. Close Tes5Edit while leaving the checkmark beside the new file active. This orders Tes5Edit to save it.

Make sure to load the file after the mods that are patched by it. I prefer to place merged patches close to the end of my load order. And don't forget to untick the add-ons / patches that are included in it now. They are no longer needed!

    You forgot to include the link to where to download and where to put the file needed to make TES5Edit actually do that. Otherwise it won't because the latest version of TES5Edit no longer has the functionality without a special download.

    This is definitely something I needed to know how to do though. Thank you.

      @Ramakgaming:
      I did not use the external merge script. The described merging sequence is all manual work and only uses commands that are very basic to Tes5Edit. So a link to the merge script is not needed.

      Well .. I tried using Mator's merge script for Tes5Edit and it's for sure very convenient, but I prefer to do it manually, that gives me more control over how things are progressed.

      You could as well use the merge script to get the same results. That's ofc. an option. I had some trouble with the script and formIDs, that's why I prefer the manual method for small things like patches. It's a bit more time consuming though.
