Quick comment in case it gets lots in the text. The outline is 100% optional in the ENB 315 Binary. Its just an effect like any other that people don't need to use.

I don´t completely understand the technical changes, but I like the oics, especially the first of the bonus and of course Grim´s smile

Thanks Heiki I tried to keep it fairly basic on the tech stuff .. hell I don't know that much of what Boris does and just relaying information and what I have picked up on how things work over the years. Glad you enjoyed the shots

Great explanation for this. The outline is very strong, but if you want that, it looks good. The rest of the shots look very good.

Thanks Patrick. I had maxed it out to make it more visible (the outline). I suspect it would be good if making a series of comic book like shots for a story.

Thanks for pointing that out, jon. :O
I haven't updated my binaries since v308 or something, as I am using them with one of your GS ENBs (Hircine) and some DOF files I 'borrowed' from snapdragon, IF I need them anyway. Most of the time my DOF is disabled. I can't stand it for playing, it just literally makes me sick... ^^"
So well I never felt the urge or necessity to update my binaries, because, everything works, I haven't seen anything glitching out, although I'm not even using the fixed meshes (at least I can't remember ever installing them).
You ENBs were the first ones I found that got rid of the really really ugly horizon line MOST ENBs have. And well you know: Never change a running system.
So it's actually good to know that the newest binaries change how DOFs are handled, so that people like me, who get attacked by an update rush do not blindly updte EVERYTHING... ^^

Lol I know the feeling sometimes about the blind update rush. I used to always update everything the second it came out. No longer. Now I tend to wait to see if bugs crop up - whether ENB or Mod.

Also Hircine and my other presets are really still configured based on the older binaries. When I update them I am mainly making sure they have the new parameters (usually set to default or off) and run okay. But the overall settings and looks stay consistent. Some complain about that but I like the look so I don't feel a need to change it. I do, however, try to improve things from time to time though. If I want to overhaul the looks, however, I would just do a new preset. But for now the 7 or so I have is enough pfft.

There are some nice things with 315 I like though so I did upgrade my own set ups from 308 to use 315. But that is more to handle DOF changes in a smoother fashion and to break them out to their own file. Luckily Boris make it real easy to convert to 315 - as you really only have to rename the old DOF file to the new name. Granted some DOF files use other things than DOF but so far that hasn't been an issue ... although eventually those would need to be cleaned up I think.

The funny thing with your presets is, I really wish I could combine three of them somehow, for inteirors, day and nighttime...
But since I can't, I chose the one that suited me best. And I will not, no no never ever touch them or tweak them or whatever else, I'd only break everything because I have NO idea what this option with that fancy name does, or what that option does or what you can do else, and to be honest I don't really want to have an idea either.
Not as long as there are people who release great ENB presets.

I've learned a lot since I owned my first PC, even way more since I started playing games like Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout, I know what I'm doing installing mods manually and leaving out mod managers on purpose, I know the basics of CK to help myself, and I can fix most problems I have with mods on my own, but the deep graphical stuff is way too much for me.
I mean: I do have a graphics Card, I know its name and specification, I know what it's capable of, I know how to tweak it or add profiles for each game I play, that's it, and that's all I need to know for my taste.

Thank you for the explanations Jonathan. I am no expert in these things but you are the chain link between the enbdev-forum and people like me .

I just tried it out and yes the outline-effect is new and hm not so pretty (right now), but as you said it's just a feature.

What I have noticed and this is extremely cool: no more delay when activating DoF and no more stuttering when turning it off and turning the camera(I always had that). It's absolutely flawless now!

Many thanks Karoshi - thank you for writing this as I like knowing a few people get something useful out of reading my explanations. The DOF change on timing is also important as before Boris had warned that enabling/disabling the DOF in previous versions wasn't a good idea. So its nice that it is quicker and smoother now when wanting to toggle it.

Very interesting Jon We can be happy for such a kind and helpful person like you... I can say you teached me a lot... directly or indirectly through your workarounds and tests Thank you
I have to confess... the outlines reminds me a bit on a comic book picture... a cool effect for people who like to play a bit around and make some unique shots, for sure... but for me... nah... even if I love to play around

Thanks Tanya! Well the outline effect was just an example of one thing in the many changes I suspect some folks could do a lot with it but I know I am not one of them

Thanks for sharing and passing on the information, I'm no tech guru and most what you mention flys right over my head. I generally jsut install stuff and end up setting it up wrong especially when you have to do too many things, but as long as I can get some results that work for me its sometime more unique and interesting when set wrong lol

Thanks Corfus! Just thought I would share a little of what I found so others might not get caught of guard

Your stuff is amazing but thats the talent shining through to do shots regardless of the medium/tools.

I can see some aspects where the outline can be used, its a ery interesting feature. Thank you very much for the update Jon, while I do enjoy Boris's work I am not a regular on his forums so your explanation on how the new binary works is really nice and helpful.

The images you took do look really nice and I will be looking foward to trying out this binary once tetro releases his new dof (can't live without it. )

Thanks Josh! You could probably make those changes yourself with the instructions I outlined above. Should work the same just need to rename the file appropriately.

Great to see you taking the time to do the updates Jonathan and explaining what's happening with the latest binary, I did try it but had to go back to 308, reading what you write about 315 explains it, your images are looking awesome with the changes, I don't like the look of that 'outline' but as you explain its early days and should or will look awesome in the future... both the guys are looking as awesome as ever

I have to agree with ista, I do not like the look of that 'outline' at all, so sure I will stick with what I have for sure at moment but will await what comes from these changes.

Thanks Izzy! I wouldn't play the game with outlines (although some might if they were trying to create a certain style). Mainly wanted to explain what was going on. There was a lot more to the updates, however, then just a single optional effect - and it is optional. You can use 315 and not use the outline. Just another tool in the tool box.

Thanks Shelley! As I told Izzy the outline is just an optional tool to use or not. It is only one part of many other changes. I mainly wanted to mention it for those who might be interested. But you can safely use 315 and not have outlines. Like most effects with ENB you can toggle them on or off to your liking.
