Wonderful set of images, and thanks for the info you gave to Ista about making Meeko essential. I had a couple of bad experiences, including the fact the dog I had with me through my last play through killed Meeko when we came across him. Is there a mod that allows you to have more than one dog at a time now?

Thanks FastBlackCat. I know I was always upset over Dogmeat dying in FO3 - one reason I stopped playing (and it was before I knew about mods or editing the game or using the console). So was happy to see more options in later games and now have access to mods and the CK to adjust things myself. Think Beth picked up on that making Dogmeat essential in FO4.

Anyhow various follower mods allow you to have multiple companions of either the 2 or 4 legged variety ... but they tend to be buggy at times when dealing with animals Meeko works well with AFT as AFT has code for it but general animal companions don't behave as well. There might be a pet mod that can handle multiples. Usually one person and one animal is all I prefer to travel with myself.

Thanks Shelley! They get along very well. Compared to Grim my game with Fenn is a lot more private for the most part.

Great captures Jonathan and short story of the trip, I've never had any luck with Meeko he always dies

Hmm? I thought he was essential and could only die by the player. He never dies for me even if I accidentally hit him. Easy enough to set to protected though so you don't have to worry about any death.

No he's not essential and even friendly fire will kill him he always gets killed during bandit fights especially where arrows are flying right left and centre I never knew you could make him protected? that sounds great

Ah - okay must be a mod I have that sets it for me. But you can actually make him essential with just the console:

      From http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console#Targeted_Commands :

Usage of the 'setessential' console command is: setessential <base ID> <1/0> - set a character (NPC) as immortal (1) or mortal (0).

Note that the base ID and not the ref ID must be used. The ref ID is what appears when clicking on an object with the console open. To find an NPC's base ID, however, you can either a) browse to their respective page (see: People and/or NPCs) or b) use the help function in-game to search for them by name, recording whatever value matches their name under the "NPC_" category of result. Once you have the base ID, enter the command using either 1 to set him/her immortal or 0 to set him/her mortal. For example, setessential a2c8e 1 would set Lydia as immortal.

Wonderful and beautiful set with great portraits and picturesque scenic captures! I am very glad that Fenn took care of Thalmor problem and I also can't help but feel sorry for poor Meeko. I am very happy that Fenn adopted Meeko and I am sure they can have lots of adventures together!

Many thanks Nataly! Still trying to get Fenn high enough so I can do some stories more easily. He is still only level 7 at this point. Need to explore more and get the map uncovered and some quest areas opened up. Plus I am enjoying just wandering around doing things at random for a change versus always having a set plan like I did for Grim. It is rather relaxing. Meeko is a great companion and fits Fenn great. I did use a mod to turn Meeko into a white-wolf husky hybrid though ... since that works a little better for Fenn.

Traveling on foot is my favorite way. With a few good mods, it can be quite full of surprises and a good challenge! Great shots of the trek Jonathan.

Many thanks Patrick! Even the vanilla can have a lot of surprises when traveling. At this point I really no longer know what is added by mods and what is vanilla as I am always mixing things up and never know fully what is being added some times. I like it that way.

Thalmor for breakfast and necromancers for lunch. Not a bad day I say.

The whole thing with running into Meeko needed a little something extra to drag you into it. It's interesting to find his owner had died and he's all alone but a little quest needed to be added like finding him a new home if you did not want a dog follower.

Thanks Wade! Aye would have been nice to see a quest. Beth really didn't invest too much into their followers in general and the animals really got the short end of the stick. At least they made up for it in FO4 with Dogmeat and better companions overall. Hope the next TES game follows that path (also wondering if their next TES will be VR and if so if it will have the option to play it non-VR ... don't know a lot about VR to know if a game can be played either way or not ... Mark said they were working on something very different this time around which suggests VR to me in some ways ... but time will tell).

It looks to have been an eventful journey with having to deal with the blades of thalmor and the dark spells of necromancers, travels aren't often dull in those harsh reaches of Skyrim. What catches my eye in the shots is that great contrast between dark hues of shadows and water and the paler hues of grass and cloudy sky, a wonderful set, Jonathan

Thanks Lia! Meeko and Fenn really get along well and its nice to have Meeko in my game finally - first time I really used him. One plus is that Meeko actually is set up to work with AFT so for once won't have constant animal companion problems with AFT (I hope - so far its promising). No cookies I am afraid - Fenn obliterated the remains. He really does not care for the Thalmor which is reasonable all things considered.

These are some outstanding images Jon. I really loved the second to last one, but the werewolf Fenn shot from that angle was really cool as well. It was nice of Fenn to adopt that pup on the way. Like Izzy, I tend to lose him in a dungeon fairly quickly.

Thank you Josh. I don't how people lose him so easily; just need to keep an eye on him. But then I am a dog owner so have learned to always keep an eye on those under my protection.

Just keep his PRID handy and easy enough to move him to you with the moveto command. Or use the enhanced Meeko mod, which is what I am using, which has a horn to summon him. As for dying - takes all of 1 minute to change him to essential or protected in the CK.
