Great introduction Liadys - really set the mood wit the description of the war and its effect on people compared the more unnatural effect of Despair's influence on the city. I wonder if Daedra are fed by it in some way. Like moths to a flame those Daedra who embody the darkest sides of the human psyche would be well fed by the affects of a war - becoming fat upon the feast of human misery. Lol now this sounds more like something Farvat might write about *grin*.

Rhia sounds very smart as she figures out that something is wrong in the city - using her senses, reason, and critical thinking skills to make sense of her observations. Interesting that Despairs influence is stronger outside than inside. Perhaps the comfort of home, fires, etc. helps combat the general maisma of her influence.

Enjoyed the exchange of oaths and handshakes between Sigyn and Rhia - well written and very fitting of two powerful warriors like these two. There business chats are great and I now like Rhia much more as she is willing to here both sides of Faolin's stories. Of course Sigyn is not wrong in her thinking in the sense that A) she saw "Faolin" stab her and B) she is to close to be objective. Consquently I don't blame Signy for her conclusions. Her mage brother is the one to truly hate. Still I am glad Rhia is having an open mind.

If I were Rhia I would have told Sigyn to meet her outside of the City, perhaps at the farm down the road or at the Inn at Kynesgrove. When you gut is screaming that the very city is under some unhealthy influence you don't decide to spend the night in it. Course I have the knowledge of what is happening so I would not write it off as just a case of nerves.

    Enjoyed the story very much

Thank you dear ! I started over that specific part so many times before i think getting it finally right to my taste. War have it's nasty effect of course..but Despair influence isn't exactly what it'd look like when you are fighting it..perhaps more when you lost it...or you are fighting a battle you know is lost from the start...then again i'd say in those specific situation that is where most would harbor the secret hope for a 'savior' or the raise to action of some. If Daedra were quite literally fed by such dark emotions...i can only imagine just how fat some of them would turn to be. It is a very interesting concept however !

I think just about anyone getting to Windhelm would feel that there is something odd, more perceptive traveler would surely know that something if wrong. That was my view on why Despair influence wasn't as noticeable on the inside, the comfort of him and the warmth of a cozy hearthfire. Then again, should she wish she could affect the entire city in a much worst fashion..though that wouldn't be wise of her to do so.

Figured that their handshake couldn't be anything but firm and to some extend manly for those two warrior ladies. Mercenary not always an easy way of life. Really wanted Rhiannon to be more the kind that wants to know all sides of a story before passing any kind of judgement. True that Sigyn can hardly be impartial in this situation..as Faolin DID stab her when she went to get the Jagged crown..though not the reason for what she thinks... It's really not gonna be anything pretty when light is shed on all of Aenar's misdeed. Rhia might have an open mind..but there is some promise to see some major personality clash with Lubis..they aren't quite polar opposite but well they are far enough to cause some clashing.

Well, They will most likely see one an other before her departure ;-) So maybe she will share her feeling on what is wrong with the city..though if Sigyn acknowledges it or not is an other story.

"Hircine's hairy balls" I laughed so hard at that haha Rhiannon sure is a feisty one, I love her It's good to see her relaxing (well, as much as she can anyway) even if the ale is awful. I'm very curious on what's behind this atmosphere in the air though. A nice chapter here with excellent shots Liadys, I enjoyed it very much Keeping my eyes peeled for the next one.

Then my job here is done ! You were amused :-) Glad it made you laugh, it was alot of fun for me to write. Oh yes, Rhiannon is quite a fiesty one...and a rather vulgar one at that. I think she actually like awful tasting ale....make her relax and think back on good old memories. The atmosphere that hangs heavy on Windhelm..resumes itself to one word : Despair.

Glad you enjoyed it dear and thank you !

A very amusing reunion between two old friends, love the banter. And perhaps Rheannon's arrival will provide a fresh insight into the events surrounding Faolin's supposed crimes, a point of view not marred by love turned hate. Well, unless Despair gets involved, which we all know she will, evil wench. <grin>

Thank you dear ! Glad you enjoye the banter ! It was a blast to write ! Perhaps Rhiannon arrival will help Faolin's case into proving that lot of the accusation standing against him are false....given that he gets a chance to speak with Rhiannon..which he may not. It's still good to know he have someone on his team..or at least someone willing to listen to his version of the story. Despair is still around watching...just waiting for the right time to get involved..which shouldn't be too long

This is awesome new chapter, wonderfully written! It us great to see Rhiannon arriving in the city and meeting Sigyn there, a most unlikely encounter! These two are awesome together, love their banter very much, especially the expressions like cursing with certain parts of Daedric Princes, lol.

It is very interesting how Rhiannon has such heightened senses that she can sense Despair's aura, wile others, even Sigyn just doesn't feel it. I bet for Sigyn it was very pleasant encounter since Rhianon might remind her of good old days when all siblings were together. And Rhiannon is very perceptive one that she did not believe those accusations against Faolin a second, although Sigyn's words about him wounding her gave her pause... yet if she was hired to track him, Rhianon would still listen to his version of story, unlike Sigyn who was always fiery tempered. I like Rhiannon very much and I m so looking forward to her interactions with capricious and arrogant Lubis, who has certain drama queen feeling about her... Their road trip sure must be something!
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work and I will look forward for continuation!

Thank you Nataly dearest ! Seem like Rhiannon have an impeccable timing ! Showing up in Windhelm when she did, unlikely encounter yet it happened, much to Sigyn's relief it seems. Really wanted to make Rhiannon sound a little more crude and vulgar then Sigyn.

She have keen sense with her being a scout, but also unlike Sigyn or much of the people that live or been in Windhelm for a long time, she doesn't have her mind clouded or affected by Despair's aura. Faolin also seem clear of that influence. The encounter sure took some weight off Sigyn's shoulder..as Rhiannon presence allow her to solve some problem she's been having...namely the one with Lubis wanting to leave Windhelm. Rhiannon doesn't know of the possible proof that were brought to Sigyn's attention, but she doesn't believe those accusations..as to her it seem to far fetched from what she knows of Faolin. Though yes, it does gives her some pause to know that he did actually wound Sigyn. It's a good thing that at least Faolin would have someone on his side..or at least willing to listen to his side..however not quite sure if they will ever get to talk before Rhiannon leave with Lubis. The interaction between Rhiannon and Lubis sure will be very interesting..as they stand further away in personalities.

Oh this was great!! The banter between these two was priceless!! BTW "Hircine's hairy balls " is my new favorite expression
Hmm... Despair backing off? I expect some mischief from her if only for her own amusement...
I can't wait to see what happens next.
Love that you interject humor "Azura's tits " into your work within the banter of your characters, I think it adds a whole new level to their personalities. Love it!
.....Or should I say, "Hircine's hairy balls that was a good chapter!!"
    Wonderful work dear!

Hahaha Glad you enjoyed it Aok ! I had so much fun with the banter between Rhiannon and Sigyn, including making her sound a little more vulgar with those expression. I did wanted Rhiannon to have a more crude way of talking.
Backing off or more like making her presences less noticeable. But one thing is for certain, she's still around and is just waiting for the right time to jump into action..which should be to far from now.

Really wanted it to have that old friend kind of feel to their banter, hence why the slight touch of humor in there..and Rhiannon usual way of talking by using Daedric Prince parts to swear lol.

      Thank you dear !

I see that brewing chaos in Skyrim has a way of bringing old friends together, the fiery haired Rhiannon spotting a familiar face though scarred by battle. Rhiannon did have good timing considering the dark mood Sigyn was in, the sight of her brightening that mood a little, she does have some amusing sayings that fiery haired one. It is good that she had someone she trusted to discuss what had been happening, to help her make a little more sense of things, to help her see that things did not quite add up, thoughts that might help with what she had to face. I really liked the banter between Sigyn and Rhiannon, that way Rhiannon spoke her mind, Sigyn teasing her about always having been an ass. Looks like Lubis will get what she wants with Rhiannon there to escort her but I wonder where Lubis intends to go and why, mysteries to ponder. Un très bon chapitre, Mylène

It does look as if troubled times find a way to bring people togehter in the face of adversity. Rhiannon sure did have an excellent timing to find herself in Windhelm ! It sure lightened Sigyn's mood quite a bit..as it is taking some weight off her shoulders. Sigyn did have a feelings that some things didn't add up when Lubis first reached Windhelm...but after getting stabbed by him when retrieving Jagged crown..well she's less likely to believe in his innocence now..unlike Rhiannon who'd rather hear his side of the story before deciding anything. The banter between the two was much fun to write ! Lubis will leave the city as she been wanting...i have good sources on where she'll be heading and why..but i cannot reveal those yet..unless spoilets hehe. Merci mon cher

I think this was one of your best chapters hon. I LOVED the banter between Rhiannon and Sigyn; they spoke like two old rogues with a deep and shared past - sharing references and cracking jokes (and swearing - 'Azura's tits' had me cackling). I would love to have seen these three (Falion included) when they were in their heyday doing whatever underhanded things they were doing (mercenary work by the sounds of things).

Interesting how Rhiannon senses Despair's presence over Windhelm and just be being around in the town the presence seemed to back off slightly. I wonder if she accompanies Lubis out of the city on her 'baby-sitting' task who Despair will follow? Sigyn or Lubis? And if she DOES follow Lubis, what will Rhiannon's presence mean? Very interesting indeed.

Great new character to add into the mix; I really love your Rhiannon.

Thank you dear ! . I had quite alot of fun writing the banter between those two ! They basically wrote themself out haha. ( If that made you laugh then my mission is here accomplish ! mwahahahaha.). There is a very likely possibility of some more references to the time Rhiannon, Faolin and Sigyn worked together in later chapters !

Either Despair is backing off a bit..or making her presences...less noticeable (second option being the most likely). It's no major spoiler..rather no spoiler at all..to say that Despair have no interest in Lubis now, she already served her purpose in Despair plan..so if she's escorted out of the city by Rhiannon, it won't matter much to her. Rhiannon will have her part to play in Lubis character evolution and i'll leave it at that

Glad you really like her dear !
