She interrupted him then, with a stifled laugh and a smirk on her face.

"You forget old man, I'm the head of the Thieves Guild in Skyrim, I'm also a Breton and I have conducted more than my fair share of "investigations" into illicit dealings and underhanded tactics."

Nepos looked up, a nervous twitch appeared on his face, and he scanned the room for his workers.

"This room is filled with Forsworn agents young lady, and I assure you..."

She stamped her foot in reply.

"No. I assure you, you will be dead before they make so much as eye contact, and once I've finished with you, they'll all die and then I will walk out that door, and if anyone in the guard confronts me, I'll just pay my way and carry on like nothing ever happened.

You'll die for nothing, and no one will remember you. I'll make sure of it."

Nepos was frightened now, his hands shaking.

"Bu, but the records, my finances, my name..."

"Erased in a day, it'll be as if you never existed. Or, on the other hand I could kill everyone here except you, and have all the evidence point your way. Just think of that... 

...you'll get to spend the rest of your life in Cihdna mine, with a pickaxce as your only friend, lost and forgotten..."


Later that day the body of Nepos 'the nose' was found inside his home, he had apparently taken his own life, having realized he could no longer live with the shame of his dealings with the Forsworn, as detailed in a scrawled note which ended with one line:
