SUMMARY VERSION (for my non-English friends):

Grim, Erik, Arnbjorn, Lucia, Wolfgar, and Grunt all take a carriage to Riften after the death of Adrianne and Lydia and the sale of Breezehome. While Erik and Arnbjorn take Lucia and Grunt to the Thieves Guild, Grim kidnaps Maven and confronts her in werewolf form, making a deal that she will not interfere with the guild. In the morning he meets the Jarl and becomes Thane of Riften and purchases Honeyside home - which he gives to Lucia who will be trained at the guild and raised by Eir and Arnbjorn. While there Nocturnal blesses Lucia and casts an enchantment on Grim's amulet - causing everyone (but her agents) to forget his real identity so they only know him as the "Black Wolf" (similar to Nocturnals Cowl and the Gray Fox). They then travel to Winterhold. Along the way (but unknown to Grim, Erik, and Wolfgar) they are spied on by the Thalmor who are following the orders of the Mistress.

PS - The short dialogue near the end where Erik, Grim, and Wolfgar discover they all had the same "dream" relates to my manly monday post with Hircine since I had to shorten the text on this post that was one place I removed a few details.

Many thanks Arnold - glad you enjoyed the little interview with Maven Indeed there may be some fall out from that later on. People like Maven never forget things like this.

arrr for a moment i was hoping grim would have torn off one of Maven's arm's and then burnt her major wound so she wouldant bleed to death then ripped off one of her ears too XD she it a hated character for her selfish ways and greed, i hope she dosent forget her meeting with grim for iam sure it will end badly for her if she does awesome chapter grim, tho i not caught up still, i read this one through and enjoyed regardless of not knowing who this Lucia girl is and what not. wish i had the time to catch up quickly.... oh and i have finally done part 2 of my story, Aidrianne could do with ur advice again john will grim and Erik possibly run into Teyla at the collage ? ....

That was pretty steamy :-) I left you a nice suggestion on what she might be able to do as an option. Great and fun way to tell as story as well.

I am pretty much writing a book it seems with my Nexus posts so I don't expect anyone to be able to keep up - but always appreciate when someone has time to post a comment when they do.

Grim and Erik may. Erik is normally not allowed inside the college when classes are in session (can only visit on weekends) but he and Wolfgar got jobs as body guards for some of the mages and are doing odd jobs in the city while Grim trains. I will have to talk with Sean as I get deeper into the story to see if we could have a little cross over with Teyla.

PS - Lucia is an orphan Grim adopted although more as a big-brother. Anyhow after she was almost killed by a vampire attack in Whiterun Grim had her moved to Riften to join the thieves guild for training as she grows up. Nocturnal also has her eyes on her for a future nightingale

It was good to see Lucia inducted per say into her new temporary family with Arnbjorn and Eir. Ever safe she will be with those two and the rest of the guild never far away. I think Arnbjorn would make a good father fiqure in time. I think he is much more gentle then he wants to let on or for others to know of him.

I think that having Lucia and Arnbjorn around will help Eir also. Give her more purpose, something to look forward to and having a hand in raising Lucia will give her that and who knows maybe her and Arnbjorn will become better friends, someone to lean on for the other with all they have gone though and lost in their lives.

Maven, now that part I enjoyed the most, one of the two woman in this game I truly dislike, her and that Dalphine but Maven is the worst , not a care for anyone in this world but herself and money, and she even cares for the money most. I enjoyed to see her fear, and for a moment had hoped even though I know it is not Grims style for him to bite off her head lol......... sorry the bad in me coming out lol.....I do not trust her and I think as long as she is making money she will go along but if anything changes well she will be back and worst the next time to deal with.....

On to the college they go, mystery there will wait for them, I think their trip there will have a few twists I am sure..... I was not surprised to see the Thalmor, they always have their noses in where it does not belong, watching them...... plotting as always. But that one woman Thalmor had best learn now, trying to take out Grim, Erik and Wolfgar would be the end of her....... in a very slow and painful way.....this Mistress sounds very interesting and will be waiting to hear more about her when the time is right.........

Wonderful story, so very much filled with so much information and I think a few clues as to what might come ........ Awesome shots...... you have such a way with showing what needs to be said even with out the words....... Great job Jon

Many thanks Shelley for reading this length story! Lucia will have many big brothers and sisters watching out for her in both the thieves guild and the black wolf company. Some will watch out for her because they like her, some will be indifferent but do it because their champion asked them to, and a few will do it solely because they think it will get them something by brown nosing. But she can trust Bryn, Sapphire, Eir, and Arnbjorn and they are all professionals.

Glad you enjoyed Maven's little interview. Grim didn't like resorting to her own tactics, which is why he drew the line at killing, but sometimes you have to speak in the way people like Maven understand - intimidation and profit. I am sure she is not done with things yet - she will always harbor resentment now as she was mistreated and will hate that. I expect there may be a reckoning with her some day.

The College should be fun and looking forward to the change of pace. The college questline will lead to the Eye and the place that Alfrun has the key hidden. Grim will finally meet Fenrir in person, on Skyrim, in his mortal form. There will be much going on. Of course the Thalmor and the Mistress will be right behind him as will some of his other enemies.

      Thanks again for everything!

    Great chapter wolfgrimdark!

If that cute Lucia doesn't like living there, she can come with my Anna Valeriya
I dunno, maybe she can entertain Lucia with some her magic spell and stuff.
Or she can be a teacher for Lucia

I'll grab my hot chocolate milk while enjoy this great story

Another great chapter Jon! Very interesting with lots of informations, and i had to sort everything before i could answer.
It`s good to know Lucia has a new home now, well protected by Eir and Arnbjorn. I hope, Arnie will not be too annoyed about all the questions a child asks, but i`m sure, it will not take long, and he will love this little chatterbox!

The "interview" with Maven was terrific! A good idea to meet her in werwolf form. Seems, she was a little scared, but not even in this situation, bound and with Grim's claws on her temple, she has lost composure. I really don`t like her, but i admit: Respect Mrs. Black-Briar!

Could the Thalmor hide so well, that Grim and Wolfgar have not sensed their presence?

Great images too. Vermina has a very clear and crisp look.
My favorite is *image of a fox hiding in a hen house and wolfish laughter*

Thank you for the comment Heidi, much appreciated! I suspect Arnie will make a good protector but sees Lucia as something similar to a pack member and more to be tolerated than loved ... at least for now.

The Thalmor are using cloaking spells that hide their scent, sounds, minds, and energy - basically wraps them in a protective field that can't be sensed easily. Such spells are costly to cast and maintain and can't be done for to long but in the short term enables them to monitor without being discovered as long as they are not to close and they are not actively looking for them.

      Glad you enjoyed the story!

Thanks for the explanation about the Thalmor and their cloaking spell Jon.
I had a similar thought when i saw them so close to the tent.

It reminds me of "Parfume" by Patrick Süskind. Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, the protagonist of this novel, has no odor, and therefore he will not be perceived by other humans.

So my thought was, they have a special potion which removes their odor.

So much happened in that chapter! I felt like it was a great way to wrap up the Thieves Guild quest (always bothered me in the game that you can be the guild leader, the leader of the DB, Dawnguard, Companions etc... and no one notices! ). This was a great way to 'cloud' the minds of those who knew the truth... and shouldn't.

Nice to see Lucia safely ensconced in Honeyside and somehow I don't think there's a better protector for her than Arnie (and of course Eir). Odd as it may be, when he called her lamb chop I could just feel the tenderness he has to her oozing from beneath that gruff exterior! Heaven help the thug who tries to break into THAT house.

Interesting that the Thalmor are back on Grim's trail. I wonder if the mistress is a reference to Elenwen or someone else... someone more sinister? Mind you; her attention alone with an army of Thalmor Justicars at her beck and call is bad enough. Is that where you're headed next; back to the main storyline? Though I can't say i'd be surprised if we see Grim heading down to the Dawnguard sometime soon... that vampire attack sure shook up the big man.

Beautiful descriptions as always and few cracks of humour that made me grin. A great chapter dear.

PS: The music - very nice and the wolf growl - wow.

It has taken me a long time to wrap up the guild hasn't it? I so needed a break from Riften but I hate leaving to many loose ends (unless it is for a specific future plot) and really wanted to feel like he left the guild and Lucia as best as he could, as that is his way - to make sure people are protected.

That doesn't mean Riften is over never to be seen again! No I have a few plot lines for Lucia, Arnie, and Eir that I have jotted down for future stories. Also Grim is the Black Wolf and he will have regular dealings with the Guild just as he does the BWC. I just don't write about them as I only have so much time to write and post ... and this is less a book and more like a string of connected short stories with images

You have read Arnie (and me) correctly. He shares Grims "pack-sense" and Lucia will be as well protected as any family member would be by a fierce and loyal hound (don't tell him I called him a hound though :p) He would consider it an insult to his ability, and a failure to keep his word to Grim, if anyone got past him.

I won't spoil to much but the Mistress is not Elenwen although they have a connection both being Thalmor. The Thalmor have never really left Grim's tale I just haven't remembered to add little reminders into the stories about what they are doing (my fault really as a simple paragraph here and there would have made it clear ... something to remember if I write a book as I let things go on to long without giving at least some highlight on it) ... and I mainly write more from Grim's perspective and he isn't aware they are monitoring him so closely. In general they are just watching him for reasons which will become clear when I introduce the Mistress to the story.

My plot notes that I keep are fairly intricate but I just don't know if I have the time and energy to do everything I want to - it is almost like writing a book and adding a new characters and some twisted plot line will take a lot of additional work and time ... so will depend on how things go. For now just the Mistress and her cronies but if get the energy I would like to bring in Karlosti, Tor's twin brother, who I have always had plans for but have lacked the time to bring him properly into the story.

Likewise for Molag Bal and Dawnguard. Grim is doing Dawnguard so I am sure I will have a story or two on it ... but doing a complete plotline with Molag ... lots of work as you know. Also it isn't like a book where I can see the big picture and move all the parts around so they fit like a well put together puzzle. Once I post a story on Nexus there is no going back - so you get locked into things unlike with a book. I can't go back and add those mentions of the Thalmor watching him like I could in a book I was writing.

The main storyline, at its core since day one over 16 months ago, is about Grim being the son and Champion of Fenrir - who was chained by the Thalmor centuries ago. His "destiny" is to free Fenrir and get revenge on the Thalmor (and some other things not yet revealed) as Thalmor's Bane. Yet destiny is often not as clear as some may think ...

The Thalmor, on the other hand, want to stop the white demon and they hope to somehow use Fenrir and Grim to take control of the Eye of Magnus and bind Fenrir to them as a weapon of control and destruction. They wish to conquer Tamriel and bring back a golden age. Humans will obey them and follow their laws or be killed. In their mind it is a golden age - one that the humans destroyed in the past.

So that is the core plot line and main story. The Thieves Guild was part of this in that Alfrun is the one who stole the key to release Fenrir and Grim now knows, thanks to her, about the Eye of Magnus, some of the Thalmor plans, and where the key is and how to use it. So that was the main reason for the guild stories - plus all the side stories and Grims sub-plot to lead his own BWC squad which meant becoming a Nightwolf and allying with the Guild.

The Mage questline is requried to get to the Eye of Magnus which is why he is now heading to the College to "pretend" to be a student so he can learn more of the secrets of the college.

Being Dragonborn and Dawnguard is pure side-story stuff that just helps fill out his personality and history which is why I do not focus on it as much. It has some importance to his overall role in Skyrim and his history but I have to limit how much I focus on it. However he will do the Dawnguard and fight Alduin ... just don't know how much I will write about it.

Seriously if I was doing a book I would not even cover it - the real focus is his main story. But this is nexus and I am writing for fun and practice only ... so I write based on mood and interest

PS - Thanks for the comment and feedback and glad you liked the wolf growl. Hearing that only deeper and meaner in the dark shadows of a sewer would be pretty scary I think.

I see Grim was feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders again, until Erik took his hand. Grim is truly blessed to have someone like Erik around.

It seems Lucia is in good hands now, even if Arnbjorn is maybe a bit out of his depth. Honeyside will make a nice home, and that armor fits her well. Cute bit with her curled up in the wagon with Wolfgar. And I like Erik and Arnbjorn standing behind her in that first shot. (As good as Arnie looks in the sleeveless Guild armor, I still like him best in that hide.)

Nice bit with Grim/the Black Wolf and Maven, and Nocturnal's way of keeping things secret (and incidentally keeping Grim's reputation clear with Jarl Laila). "Screw you, Maven," indeed.

I like how you worked in Hircine's interlude. And it seems Wolfgar is right to be uneasy with those two Thalmor tracking Grim. I sense a confrontation coming up soon as they get involved with the Eye of Magnus.

Anyway, nicely done as always, both pics and story! I'm looking forward to Chapter 2 and beyond.

Thanks Aaron for the comment and feedback! Erik is a nice guy - just the way he is. One can be a powerful warrior and still have a big heart I think - although I suspect it weighs one down conscience wise. Still wolf-brothers and sisters (i.e. shield-brother) look out for each other. They are also still pretty young and full of emotion and hope.

I also like Arnie in that armor although I need to get him some Riften gear. I have a sleeveless guild tunic that I think would work nicely. Of course the Marauder Armor would also look good on him (the shirtless version).

I don't want to reveal to much but the Thalmor will get more out of Grim alive than dead, although keeping him alive is obviously risky, so for now they are content to monitor things. Hermaeus Mora, for the moment, also prefers him alive. Molag Bal, on the other hand, wants him dead ... or more precisely UNdead as his vampire slave.
