Merci encore, Franck
I'm keen to read more from the bandy of travellers (as others have said, you've breathed such life into this group with their banter and unique personalities that they seem as much a part of Skyrim now as... say, Draugr! ).
Beautiful images again as always; it's quite criminal that such detailed and quality images are now getting shrunk down. Shame but what can you do?
Looking forward to the next instalment dear!
Glad you are keen to read more about the band of friends, Jess ( really encourages me that you find I breathed that life into them and I like how you put it that they seems as much a part of Skyrim as draugr ^^ ).
Was a path with some nice sight they walked; it is kind of unfortunate how they changed the image sizes.
Will have to think on that installment a little, I think it will be a more peaceful one
Loved it!
Thanks bunches, Aok ^^
Riverwood was a great example, and I think one of their favorite places considering how you right about them there often They are very good with kids I see. Everyone has there own way of dealing with them I suspect. Your band seems to know how to deal with them on their own level ... something Grim struggles with. Maybe he needs to talk with Edrelle and Honey Stripes about that! But Grim shares one thing in common and that is protective nature towards the young, be they animal or human.
A great moment between Honey Stripes and Tacita - a good bonding of the two loyal friends to Edrelle and to each other. I enjoyed that exchange of memories and shared connection between them.
Also a good time to mention the wonderful shots - as the one with the birds really caught my eye enough to pull me away from the engrossing story. Like the view and the wonderful color of the birds feathers - makes them stand out nicely in addition to the DOF. I enjoyed all the shots, especially that top down one of Edrelle - that was just superb - something about it really appealed to me.
Another great little "fox" experience as well as they came to the path that turned away from the lake - well done
Sounds like Edrelle avoided the sentries (Grim did the same for most of them, hoping when the key was returned and the flow restored they might regain their sanity and return to normal) which was nice to see.
I am glad Edrelle reached her own agreement with Nocturnal. Who can say why she does what she does? That is a core part of her lore. She would be nothing without her mystery. From what I have seen it seems Nocturnal doesn't care to much about the guild and just enjoys her games and being mysterious. Perhaps that is why she enjoys watching Edrelle so much.
Great chapter Alexi, I had been waiting for this one! Grim finished it two nights ago but I have been to busy to write up the second part of his tale telling to Lucia. Hoping to this weekend
Riverwood is a place they are fond of being so quiet even among the troubles of those lands, a little island of tranquility in a stormy sea, a nice place to put asides one's burdens for a few moments. Edrelle and Honey Stripes do get along well with children. You are right that people relate to them in different ways. With their playfulness and slyness they have not lost connection with their childhood which makes them understand kids well. I am sure Grim could learn a few things from the two of them. I have certainly seen that protectiveness of Grim in your tales.
Good to hear that moment between solider and spy was great - their bond did get stronger knowing they each have similar memories of the past, though it was a nice way to show those memories.
I had taken a similar shot of those birds before for one of Akhaz'iir's tales, I like how they look like red winged blackbirds which I sometimes hear near my house. Did fiddle around with the angle when I captured that shot, glad those bright feathers stand out. Very glad you enjoyed all the shots, seeing the crisp shadows that Edrelle cast in that hallway I figured it was a good time to try a top down perspective, there is a little something I like about it too.
Hehe, do have fun sneaking those little moments with a fox here and there in the tale, a little reflections of Edrelle's nickname
She did manage to avoid being caught by them though some did come very close to noticing her, was an intense part to play, ( I can see Grim thinking that way with his connection to other realms) she saw no reason to risk herself against their skill.
It is of some relief to her that somehow she made Nocturnal change the terms of her agreement. The reasons she does what she does are quite unknowable. That enigma around her does show up in the tales about her, I see her the same way. The near fall of the guild did look to be of little concern to her, it is clear she enjoys her games and her mystery. Watching Edrelle's skill and the dangers she faced did seem to very much amuse nocturnal.
Thank you very much, Jonathan, did take a little while to post this chapter. Saw from your shots on Flickr that Grim had sneaked his way through the Sepulcher, look forward to your telling of it ^^
first of all, i can say almost the same thing Kayol has told already, I just love how your characters remain cheerful and affable, ready to enjoy every respite they get. The whole exchange between Dorthe and Edrelle, along with Honey Stripes was very endearing, such warm and beautiful moments! I love it when heroes show care for children and Edrelle sure knows how to treat kids... Honey Stripes too, it was amusing and cute when Dorthe hugged her...
Also it was wonderful to know that Tacita who always stays vigilant and on her guard shared moments of understanding and felt comfort from honey Stripes.
As always your descriptions of heroes surroundings were masterful, I always love to read about it, such great descriptions make me feel like I was there.
And the part of Edrelle stepping on pilgrim's path was very intense, surely the place where shadows dwell is very dangerous one, full of traps... Great to know that with her skills of stealth and careful approach Edrelle has made it to meet with elusive and mysterious nocturnal herself. the image of her as scolding mother fits Daedric Prince of shadows perfectly and I am so very happy that she has changed her deal for Edrelle so she won't have to guard the key and sepulcher even in afterlife! The reason of why she did it remains a mystery... but maybe it will be revealed one day.
Thank you very much for sharing your awesome work! I am looking forward for continuation!
The group are not ones to dwell on difficulty of their path, knowing the value in those moments of respite shared together. I though you might like that exchange between Dorthe and Edrelle, very glad that you do. With that care Dannee shows for Sofie I did figure as much, being the playful trickster she is Edrelle does understand how a child thinks... Honey Stripes is much like Edrelle, I am sure the group thought it was cute too when Dorthe hugged her
Knowing that they shared similar memories of people who they wondered if they would see again, did bring some comfort to both Tacita and Honey Stripes.
I am happy you really like those descriptions of the forests around them seeming more alive in that evening light, that you could picture yourself alongside them.
Glad I managed to bring out a bit of the danger of the pilgrim's path, the hiding place of the Ebonmere is very well protected and it is likely the trials very much amuse Nocturnal. Her light feet and the caution of many a heist sure did help her reach the mistress shadows unscathed. I do like that description Karliah give of her, she does understand the deadric prince of shadows well. Was a shock to Edrelle that Nocturnal would change those term so favorable to her, she is happy as you though that she did. She does like her reasons to be a mystery but perhaps your are right that Edrelle will find a clue about them in time
I am always as appreciative of the thoughts you share about my tales, Nataly, look forward to sharing were her path will take her now
That snow being replaced by grass, and it was all described not with thoughts but with senses. Wonderful!
That little banter Edrelle shared with little Dorthe in Riverwood was so charming and graceful! I like the fact that most of your characters are so... lighthearted, cheerful, so they can forget about their burdens and give in to simple joy of travelling along their companions, stopping by the cities, talking to the citizens.
And yet we have someone like Tacita who is always vigilant, never stop focusing onb the task at hand, silently watching over her friends.
And that little moment of bonding between Tacita and Honey Stripes was really nice, cinematic even. That little banter about memories - things like that surely bring the party together.
The whole part describing the finale of the Nocturnal quest was simply a joy to read! I love the way you described careful Edrelle, moving slowly forward, checking for traps, avoiding the dangers.
And the description of Nocturnal as a scolding mother, pushing her "children" to succes - so accurate!
What can I say about the shots... well, maybe I'll shock you, but they are perfect!
Anyway, it was a delightful read, great job!
Had taken a shot of the group walking in the snow as I started working on the chapter, made me think of describing the change of scenery in the sound of steps.
Good to hear that banter they shared with Dorthe was so charming, was nice to write about. I am the optimist and lighthearted sort so my characters tend to share a bit of that, putting their burden in the back of their mind to simply enjoy their path together, to talk to those they meet along the way.
They are fortunate to have Tacita as a friend, being vigilant as she is, she does still have that focus of a soldier as if having been given orders.
Glad there was a small cinematic touch to that moment between Tacita and Honey Stripes, finding that they both had similar memories of friends they wondered about did bring the two closer, I like describing such moments.
Happy that end of the Nocturnal quest was a joy to read. She is the very cautious sort, she has learned well that traps can be found in unexpected places in the heists of the past, avoiding dangers she does not need to face when she can.
That description of Nocturnal as a scolding mother is part of Karliah's dialogue in game, wish I could take credit for it, as it is quite accurate
I am flattered you think the shots are perfect, was not easy to choose as I had many shots. Means a lot that you found it a delightful read, Kayol ^-^
