I love the banter of Dimitri and Edrelle, they are amazing characters.
Those bandits should have let them pass in peace!
Very glad you like that banter between them, that you find them amazing.
Those bandits aren't often known to be wise enough to know when to let one pass
The descriptions of the little group travelling across the changing landscape of skyrim were beautiful as usual, and highlighted by your stunning images.
What I wasn't expecting was the battle with the bandits... It was amazing to read about the entire gang taking on (and taking down) a bandit camp! I love how they all fought with their different strengths and tactics (like Elouen casting that awesome illusion spell to befuddle the bandit chief); it shows what a great mix of sorcery, steel and stealth they are.
I really feel for The group left behind waiting to learn of Edrelle's fate... And I hope there aren't any nasty surprises coming...
Happy you found those descriptions of the journey so beautiful they are usually the ones with which I have the most ease, glad the images support those words well.
Not remembering the quest very well the battle was a bit of a surprise for me too I am very glad it was amazing to read about them taking on the bandits. The group has learned well how to use each of their strengths and tactics effectively (that illusion was quite a surprise for that bandit chief); using all three they can deal with many a different situation.
Yeah, it is a tense and worrying time for them, waiting without being able to be there to help... Mercer is sure to have some surprise in his sleeve but we will see if it is a match for Edrelle's slyness...
The playful banter with Edrelle and Dimitri getting dressed is great - it shows them as persons with a daily life and routine (well as much as anyone in this type of fantasy world could have in thier line of work ... I was thinking about this as I commuted to work and thought about my job comnpared to the average merchant or peasent in Skyrim to the more heoric types in Skyrim who are "bigger than life" I suspect I would fit in best in Skyrim as a mage apprentice or perhaps working in an alchemy shop or temple priest for Mara). Edrelle and her band stand out above the rest in many ways - like many of our heroes (and villans) do. The point being I liked the banter then and the talk later - as they enjoyed lunch, or went through the crossing, or just as they travelled in general to their destination.
When Eloen asked Edrelle about the guild, and she said this, "I would not like being tied down by the responsibilities of it but I would like to see the guild become something more beneficial" it really made me like her more :-) It is also exactly what Grim is doing with the guild - which I will be covering in my very next story if I can find the time to finish it - pictures done as of last night at least. I like the idea of them being more like Robin Hood and his merry band. No robbing from the poor, protection and education/training for prostitutes, no drugs, no slavery, and the guild is like many of the rogues in fantasy stories where they hire out to rich nobles to do tasks for their petty scheming or "tomb raiders" for hire. Things like that. A guild with secret ties to the Jarl/kingdom that also does spy work. Of course it won't be all clean but the idea is a more neutral look with some help to the down trodden - they aren't going to provide much wealth anyhow :p I prefer Gallus's take as it being a challenge on a big heist versus conning that poor widow our of her last gold. Any thief who doesn't like it can join the bandits :p
Speaking of which enjoyed the fight scene as they came across some bandits. Lots of quick blade work and magic helped to take care of the scoundrels it seems! Like the little fox illusion spell - very appropriate for Edrelle to cast
From a meta-game point of view I can't recall - are companions forbidden or did you just decide it would be easier to manage? I will find out myself soon of course (as Grim is on his way there now but I have a story to write first so not sure when he will finish it) but can't recall from the one time I did it before if the game limited you. I do remember drowning over and over and over - arggg! I reloaded so many times before I finally figured out how to get out of the place. That was two years ago though. Don't remember much more than that except the fact that Mercer charms/stuns your fellow guild mates.
Anyhow great shots and stories - hope Edrelle has more luck than my first character did!
Happy you liked that playful banter between Edrelle and DImitri that morning - I do like to write those little glimpses of a day to day routine (interesting to think how one's job compares to those of the people of Skyrim, if I compared my job to those of the many people of those lands, being a freelance graphic designer I might fit in as a travelling artist of some sort or an artisan). A wandering group does tend to stand out in that dangerous time for Skyrim. Glad you liked the banter and the talk as they travelled as well.
Makes me smile that Edrelle's words on what she would like the guild to be made you like her more, she does wonder what the guild could become if steered in a better direction something she shares with Grim :-) Do remember your description of some of the positive influence Grim has already had on a few of the guild - I am curious to learn more. I also like the idea of the being of the guild being like that merry band. Not robbing from regular townsfolk and helping those less fortunate would make be seen in a better light, before finding her way to Skyrim Edrelle was a thief for hire, stealing from some greedy noble for others she would like the guild to do the same. The thieves could act as good spies for a Jarl indeed with their discretion. Would be hard to make such a guild all good but one can make it better. Edrelle does share Gallu's view about the challenge of a heist. Those less honorable thieves are indeed free to join those bandits, Tacita will chase them out
Good to hear you enjoyed the fight scene when they met the bandits of those ruins. The different skills of the group did serve well in quickly dispatching those scoundrels. Edrelle does like to use that fox illusion - her nickname does fit
Did think it was more manageable to have just Edrelle find her way to Karliah, not that I had much of a choice since followers cannot enter. With the other character with which I did the quest I do remember drowning at least once trying to get out of the place, was equally long ago for me. I don't remember that much about that fight with Mercer.
Thanks again - I think luck will be on Edrelle's side among those ruins
I was thinking more what I would want to go in Skyrim for work versus a counterpart to what my job is now. Interesting idea though. I do general IT work so a scholarly research type would still apply I think - a jack of all trades mage for example. Mainly because I manage and provide data so that seems the best comparison.
Noticed I had a few typos (leaves should have been tree at one place) sorry about that!
As always for me it is so endearing and heartwarming to see Dimitri and Edrelle moments together, their relationship full of affection and I always like tread about their playful banter and their contest of who will dress quicker was very fun and amusing one. Also it is wonderful to see that despite not liking Thieves Guild in general way, Keerava still wishes Edrelle victory and continues to be affable with her and her friends.
The surroundings of heroes as their journey continued was masterfully written as always and there were very intense and also wonderfully depicted action scenes when Edrelle and her team has faced with bandits, great to know that thy all are in god form and that they got out without any serious damage... Wile it was sad to know that once again Edrell would have to face trials alone, without her team, having only Karliah. I can imagine how devastating it is to know that you can't help your friend but wishes to do so... I hope Edrelle will manage fine on her own yet again!
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work and I will look forward for continuation!
I though you might like that moment they shared that morning with their little contest in donning their armour with those few playful words, great to hear it was fun and heartwarming. Keerava has kind of grown to like the group, they do treat her more kindly than others of the city and she can see they are trying to do something about the guild.
Had been a little while since I wrote about a longer journey and it was good to describe one again, happy you found it well written and that I depicted those scenes of battle wonderfully, glad there was that intensity to them that I tried to reflect. The group do keep their skills sharp will a little practice her and there, did serve them well against the bandits. Edrelle does not like leaving her friends behind but she knows she has to face some trials alone, at least she knows Karliah is a skilled ally. Sure is hard for her friends to not be there to help, having to wait... Edrelle's slyness is sure to help her deal with what she will face.
Thank you so much for the feedback and the encouragement, Nataly ^^
