I went up there the first time at sunset and when I got to the top it looked like, this.
My last save was down about a quarter of the way up the path to High Hrothgar, so not being able to see a Freaking Thing, I had to reload a different save and I got there at Sunrise, instead of well after Sunset. lol
In that other image if you look at the bottom of the crescent of Masser, you can just make out Alduin flying in the darkness.
Not Conducive Dragon fighting weather in that darkness for sure.. lol
