Sam or Sanguine, seems to be a respectable Daedra trying to understand love, Grim was right to advise Klimmek, he is a good guy.
I loved the history of earrings, I always appreciate the way you write and tell the stories with the gods and Daedra in the world of Skyrim, it fits so well with the world.
The end was very fun with Erik falling asleep like a big baby and confusing words and deformed under the influence of alcohol by Grim said, "no problemsh"
Magnificent pictures too with a nice atmosphere in the Inn and you made excellent use of DOF to the blur effect of alcohol!
I like the alternative route of Fastred's romantic whims; whilst many would attribute such a dilemma to Mara, it is nice to see Sam's input on the whole matter (Enjoy both he says...ha!)
I wondered many times myself, what on earth is in that brew that nary a mortal can withstand more than a couple of rounds before yielding yesterday as a blackout?
For all I know, in our modern times, it could be rohypnol and vodka and call that Sanguine's Brew.
A very humorous introduction to one of the indifferent but oh so entertaining Princes.
Sam is an interesting character and Prince being somewhat closer to mortals and a tad more interested in them ... and not as deadly as some of his brothers. So he is a bit easier to "adjust" a little while still being somewhat lore friendly.
As for that brew .. one person suggested Absinthe. So perhaps Absinthe King Gold
Glad you enjoyed the story
Will find out soon enough - I started the next chapter last night and hope to get out sometime this week
Appears Grim may have got himself into a spot of bother trying to do the macho thing of out drinking the others, will be interesting to see where this ends up
Nice work m8
It was great to see Grim finally interacting more with Sam|Sanguine, I think you captured his personality perfectly, affable person on the outside but much more layered than just party-loving Prince. I see that certain someone's influence (thank you very much for subtle reminders of her) finally made Sam inquire about love, his world with belief that there is only lust exists but not love has shaken. Good to see that Klimmek might get his happy ending with Fastred, he is such good and decent man that he deserves it as well as Fastred who is also a good even if naive girl.
Sam desire to make his lady protected from Thalmor also speaks a lot, and it is interesting that he is not shy to talk about it with Grim and Erik, that may imply that hew trusts them a lot to speak about such things as git for a friend. such an intriguing and beautiful story about earrings, I am sure it will be a beautiful place where this mysterious strawberry grows up.
But Sam can't be Sam if he won't put up a drinking contest... Poor Erik, even two mugs of special Daedric brew were enough for him, but he wasn't Sam's main target, he wants to see Grim acting wild and mischievous and I bet he will see it, since Grim did fulfill his promise about contest and drank a bit too much, while Sam no doubt was taking great amusement in whole situation, since the motto "It amused me" is like Sam's favorite one. Hope this night won't serve as a reminder of something humiliating for Grim, since there are a lot of matters he takes personally... I am so looking forward for continuation and thank you very much for sharing your awesome work!
Anyhow I do enjoy Sam and he is very amusing - this quest always cracks me up. I love his voice. I think Sam has a good idea of Grims mettle and hence trusts him. He made an impression on Hircine and I think Sam sees something in that as well, even if he may not want to admit it. As for Dannee ... well we all know we have our own little universes but I like to pretend they have enough similarities that they cross over a little here and there. Grim is not THE Dragonborn after all (something I can't discuss here yet) - as the greybeards point out there can be more than one.Anyhow all in fun. In some ways if I had known how far I was going to take Grim I might have kept him away from the main quest line and focused solely on his role as Fenrirs heir. But the multi-verse is a big place and there are many time lines so its all good
Erik went down fast, he actually only managed one full drink. He was never a heavy drinker anyhow. But he is a good lad and once the brew worked its magic he kept up with them all through out the night. Now they just have to figure out what happened and where to go next.
I don't think he will hold it against Sam, he suspected something like this was coming (Dannee did warn him after all, at the Jarls holiday party, about not accepting his drinks) and considered it "payment" for Sams help. Plus Grim does have some pride (although not in the arrogant or boastful sense) and if he was going to agree to Sams wager than he was darn well going to do it proper and give it his very best. I think Sam appreciated that
