New weapon in the Weapons Of The Shogunate collection.

A rare Japanese... err... I mean, Akaviri spear, with a single-edge tanto blade as a tip. Also the only model that uses a habaki (blade collar.) Unlike other Japanese spears, most of which CAN cut, just not very well, this one has an extremely sharp edge and is superbly suited for hacking and slashing. (I.e., it fits the Skyrim vanilla animations the best.)

Note that the metal tubes on the lacquered pole are not sockets, as this type of spear head was fixed to the pole with a long tang, like the naginata or really any Japanese sword. The metal collars just keep the wood squeezed around the tang and the mekugi (pins) fixing the blade to it.

Like all yari, it was more of an ashigaru weapon than a samurai weapon, though period drawings and texts do occasionally show it used even by the highest ranking samurai too.
