This part involve parts of the Aetherium Forge quest, which comes with the Dawnguard DLC... so those who have yet not done that quest, is warned about the spoilers!
HERE is the part before this one if you wish to read it again or havent read it yet ;)
Alana didnt even have time to think if she would run or just jump off the bridge into the water before the hard metallic hammer the Centurion had hit her with such force she lost all the air she had in her lounges while flew back towards where they came from and into the stone wall where she then landed on the ground lifeless.
"Nooo!" - Irene yells out, grabs her crossbow while walking fast backwards.. but she wasnt fast enough either before the hammer came for another hit which she didnt dodge, hit her in the stomach, hearing her lower ribs crack as she also flew backwards... but while in the air she continues to aim, focusing on that instead of breatheing and shoots a bolt at the Centurion who starts walking towards her.. then reloads with another bolt and sent it right at the machine's throat, pierced through the weak spot of metal with laud metallic sound and all the electronic stuff shattered with a sparkling explosion before the huge Centurion collapsed almost breaking the bridge in half.
Seeing the Dwarven machine collapse, Irene now realise she was still flying and not breatheing.. but that would soon change cause she let go of the crossbow, she lands, feeling the stonefloor hit her back as more air from her lounge gets pushed out with pain, holding up her head so she would hit that on the floor. She then lie there for few seconds, groans of the pain of her broken ribs before forcing herself to sit more up, holding her weight with her left hand while loading up a healing spell with the other.. she closes her eyes, while she slowly gets healed, swallowing some blood trying to come out of her mouth.
Hearing one part of her ribs crack back in place, she bites her teeths together trying her best to relax while absorbing all the pain without letting out a single groan, only some heavy breatheing. She then stops her healing, feeling she could stand to regain some Magicka to Alana cause she would probably be more injured, hopefully not too lethally.
She forces herself up, stumbles on her feets and looks around to see where Alana were laying.. seeing her she quickly ran towards her, ignoring pain while sprinting till she almost collapse right next to her..
"Alana?" - Irene says letting her rest on her lap, looking at her lifeless face. She places her finger at her throat to feel if she still had pulse, and she did have but it was slow. Irene moves her hand down to heal around where the Centurion had hit her, having her one hand over her stomach, while the other hand was over her chest to make the heal more powerful and make it spread all over, hopefully not too late..
"Please.. dont leave me now..." - Irene softly says while focusing on healing, breatheing heavily while ignoring her own pain of still broken ribs not yet fully healed. Still no reaction from Alana, not a flinch of her eyes.. and while continueing healing with one hand, she checks her pulse again and feeling it become lower, almost stopping..
"No.. no, dont you dare..." - she moves her hand back at healing again... "I cant loose you... you know that.. i... cant..."
After many minutes of healing, with no more sign of life.. Irene's Magicka started to go down to zero and she soon had to stop to regain it.. her thinking about loosing her best friend made her not even think of drinking some Magicka potion.. instead she continued to heal, till it stopped.
"Alana! C'mon.. wake up!" - Irene says softly, looking at her best friend lie on her lap.. "please..." ... she gently grabs her hand and squeezed lightly... "please.. i.. love you too damn much to loose you..." - Irene close her eyes, holding back her tears.. "you hear me... i cant..." ... now saying it with a whisper.. couldnt finish cause the rest almost got out as a sob... tears now became too much as it started sliding down her cheeks..
And without knowing it, she still used what was left, almost like a tiny drop of the Magicka to continue holding her Healing Spell for 1 second while sitting there... a soft whisper was heard after.. "i.. did not think.. Vampires could cry.."
At first Irene didnt respond, but then another whisper went through her ears... "and.. you're about to.. drown me with your tears..." ... Irene then opens her eyes to see a pair of light-grey eyes staring up to her with weak expression.. "h..how?.. did you heal me?" ... the soft whisper continued.
"Seems it worked.." - Irene answered, unable to smile just look back... but it didnt matter cause Alana slowly rose up, turned around as it also looked like she was ignoring any pain now too and embraced Irene for a hug..
Irene first held her weight up with her hand, but instead of holding she just sank down slowly on her back and placed her hands around Alana with such intimate passion which made her cry silently..
"Thank you..." - Alana whispered while still holding her arms around Irene tightly.
"I dont know what i would have done if you havent awakened.." - Irene holds back her sobs.
"Been worse for me if you have been into my situation.. i dont know any Healing spells.."
"Dont think about that.." - Irene quickly answers.
"I'm still hurting like h... though.. my ribs is probably broken." - Alana groans as her pain now becomes too much to ignore..
"My Magicka is re-filled now so i can continue healing you."
"Just try to relax.." - Irene softly says before starting healing again.. it usually tickled but the pain overtook that feeling while Alana tried her best to relax, as all her ribs which were broken now fell back on place at once, and a loud crack echoed around them as Alana screamed out in pain, deafening Irene's ear. While Alana was unable to let go of Irene because of her pain now was afflicted because of the ribs falling back on place, Irene gently stroke her hand on her back for comfort while her other hand now started healing her to get the rest of her broken ribs back on place too, she swallowed the pain while biting her teeths together. They both didnt care about the time while laying on the ground in the same hugging possition, as they lay there without saying a word, feeling the heart beat as if it was the first time they have felt it, eyes closed while breatheing now with a more relaxed way, and feeling the pain slowly fade.
"Its good that we're alone!" - Irene speaks out softly after a while.
"Oh?" - Alana says, and Irene couldnt miss the feeling of her jaw move to a smile.
"I know what you're thinking there... shame on you.. i thought about enemies!" - Irene moved herself out of the hug and looked into Alana's eyes giving her a teasy grin.
"What.. i didnt think... i thought about the enemies too!" - Alana stuttered.
"Yea.. right.." - Irene gives her a wider grin, making her blush as usual.
"Ah.. lets get out of here!" - Alana simply says and rise up, grabbing a now giggling Irene's hand to help her up.. "yea.. continue to giggle.."
"Oooh you know what i would've missed the most if you havent waken up?" - Irene looks at her holding back her giggle with a now more serious expression.
"Your... blushing-paprica-red cheeks!" - Irene says as she starts giggling again.. then makes a run towards the bridge again.
"Oh you..." - Alana growls at her with frustration and runs after... "just wait till i get you.."
Coming to the next room, Irene steps on one of those mechanic spiders while running, and she jumps up startled as it gives her a electric shock.. but with that the spider gets scared and runs away like it got a dragon's breath at its back. By that time Irene lost her speed at running and Alana came right behind grabbing her arm..
"Now i got ya!" - she says holding Irene.
"So fun teasing you!" - Irene giggles while turning around circles..
But she stops up when she sees something shiny in a little room on the other side of where they were standing.
"Hey, whats that over there.." - Irene looks towards it with curiousness.
"What is?" - Alana asks, but only had to follow her instead of getting an answer.. seeing the shiny glow herself then.
"It.. looks like a piece of those crystals called Aetherium." - Irene looks down on the blue shiny shard laying on the table in front of her.
"How can you be so sure?" - Alana asks while looking at the glowy thing with amazement too.
"It has the same look as it was shown in the book i was reading earlier." - Irene answers before reaching out to grab it.
"Hey wait.. dont!" - Alana quickly grabs her hand and pulls it away.. "what if its a trap?"
"It isnt.. look around us.. there's no sign of anything.." - Irene smiles laying her hand on her shoulder.. "trust me!" ... then she reach out again, grabbing it.. feeling the strange power it had, only the shard had tingle in her hands.. going around her fingers tickling.
"Fascinating.. lets bring it with us.. perhaps we need it when we're going to that other Dwemer ruin, Arkngthamz." - Irene packs it in her backpack.. "alright, lets get out of here!" ... they walked back to the other room, and then out to an elevator leading straight up the the surface.
Reaching the top, the two ladies felt the harsh cold wind hitting their skin, knowing they were up in a mountain of sort.. Irene pulled a lever stuck in the wall in front of them, opening the gate to get out of the cage-looking room, breatheing in the fresh air..
"How the Dwarves managed to live down these places is a mystery.. no fresh air..." - Irene shook her head.
"Yea.. the air is always so thick and overused, kinda down there.. must be the steam coming out of the machines pumping." - Alana says as she walks towards the edge of the cliff.. "and look.. there's Windhelm too!" ... Irene walks behind her, holding her hands around her stomach..
"Afraid i would fall or what?" - Alana reacts with tease.
"Never know.. you've been through alot now so.." - Irene says softly gazing at the overview towards the city.
"Oh no.. i'm going to faint..." - Alana gasps, then laughs at Irene's reaction to drag her back away of the edge... "well i know i can always count on you to save me!" - she smiles at Irene.
"Thats me... your bodyguard!" - Irene smirks.
"Sure sure.. now lets go to Windhelm.. i'm sure Ulfric would love to see your face again!"
"I'm not going to Windhelm to have a chat with that guy!" - Irene says slowly.
"You dont like him?" - Alana asks with curiousity.
"Its not about liking him or not.. i just dont feel like getting involved with that civil war stuff... yet!" - Irene looks at Alana with serious expression.. "i know i have to.. but not yet!"
"I understand.. lets go have a chat with Nilsine then instead." - Alana smiles, and taps Irene's shoulder gently before they both walks down the stairs of the ruin.
