This part involve parts of the Aetherium Forge quest, which comes with the Dawnguard DLC... so those who have yet not done that quest, is warned about the spoilers!
HERE is the part before this one if you wish to read it again or havent read it yet ;)
Inside the Dwemer ruin it was cold, yet had this warm steamy feeling from the engines running troughout the halls, feeling it slide on Irene and Alana's skin as they walk further in. Right in front was something which seem to be a trap of the Bandits have messed with using it to roast a Skeever they have probably killed while it was running around the ruin desperately trying his best to get out with no such luck. But before coming near the firetrap, Irene heard snooring right next to her, and there another Bandit were sleeping. Irene decided to test out a new Destruction Spell, since she always used fire.. perhaps she could try with ice.. perhaps Ice Spike Spell.
Irene sneaks towards the Bandit, with her spell ready and fires it.. right through her, making her groan as her eyes opens to see what sticks out of her stomach. Seeing the ice spike coming out of her stomach with blood dripping out she pass out and quickly after dies.
Irene cast a gaze back to Alana who only shrugs her shoulders and then continues further towards the fire. They stop right in front of it, seeing the hall past this was probably the correct way but they couldnt find any switch or lever to turn the beam of fire off.
"The flames are so hot we can run past it with speed either.." - Irene looks at the flame with thoughts.
"Well.. we can always see whats on this way though.." - Alana looks at her, pointing at the left side showing another hallway, possibly leading around.
"Ah, yea.. good thought!" - Irene answers and walks throught that hallway, which seem to be crowded with three Bandits, one with heavy steel armour who charged at them instantly. Irene and Alana made quick work taking care of them, as they were no match against the duo of Companions. Alana were about to continue further in, not seeing anything interesting in the room the Bandits were until she see Irene stand close to a table with a book which looked quite interesting to her. She stops up, looking at Irene, seeing her lift up the book and starts reading it swiftly.
"Hmm.. interesting.." - Irene speaks out deep in thoughts while still reading.
"What is?" - Alana asks curiously, seeing Irene's expression.
"Its about how, or perhaps a theory how the Dwemer people just disappeared.. its about the Aetherium Wars.." - Irene explains.
"Oh? but Aetherium.. i have never heard that name or word before.." - Alana scratches her chin thinking.
"It is written here in the book that its a crystal, a luminescent blue and rare crystal which they called Aetherium. Or thats what the modern Scholars say." - Irene pause, reads more then continues.. "and it is said it has proven all impossible to work with.. the Dwemer found a considerable source of Aetherium deep down in Arkngthamz, where they also made a forge to make it easier to work with the crystals.."
"Interesting.. maybe we should investigate that ruin then.. what was it called.. Arkngthamz?" - Alana asks more curiously.
"I like the way you think.. it is located south of the Reach.. wouldnt be too hard to find."
"Cool, but we can do that later.. for now we gotta deal with that Alain lad!" - Alana grabs Irene's arm.
"Alright alright.. i'm coming i'm coming!" - Irene chuckles and stumbles behind her.
Just through the next hallway again it was two seperated ways.. one leading straight down to where Alain were standing with two of his probably best Bandit members protecting him.. and the other was a locked door leading to a stairs which then possibly lead up somewhere above them.. might be a plan to take him out. Irene lockpicks the door with ease and walks without making any sounds up the stairs when she got on top seeing two ballistica's aimed dirrectly at the three Bandits below, or at least one ballistica were aimed dirrectly.
Alain had no idea what were going to happen as he stood there chatting with his friends.
"Hmm.. lets test this out.. never seen how these works!" - Irene says looking at the lever next to the huge weapon.
"I have never seen one of those in action either.. wonder how it works.. pull the lever!" - Alana smirks.
"You're so evil.. sometimes!" - Irene grins with tease at her before pulling the lever, sending out a trio of huge metallic bolts towards one of the Bandits sitting on the chair.
The bolts hit the Bandit with an explosion, going right through him.. making him... yes.. he wasnt there anymore, and bits of the exploded bolts flew all around the area, hitting the other Bandit sitting next to him, cutting his veins like razorblades so he falls on the cold stone floor bleeding slowly to death, while Alain himself covers his face and ducks to not get any lethal cuts. When he removed his hands away from his face and rose up again, he sees a pair of legs standing in front of him.
"Ah, so you've come this far... pretty impressive for a milkdrinker like you!" - Alain spits out with discusted expression at the purple haired lass standing in front of him.
"Whats up with you lads always calling me milkdrinker all the time..." - Irene shrugs.
"Perhaps you should look in a mirror before walking out of your house.." - Alain tried his best to provoke her, but Irene just looked at him with a grin.
"You can continue to provoke her, but my friend here know how to deal with such!" - Alana says giving the Bandit a smirk too.
"You should have just told Muiri that you were a Bandit on your first date.. perhaps she wouldnt have asked the Dark Brotherhood to come after you!" - Irene says still giving him the same grin.
"Oooh.. so its all about Muiri... i should have just killed her instead of letting her go... that b.." - Alain couldnt finish before Irene's hand grabs his throat and pushes him onto one of the chairs.. "what the... so.. you're going to kill me now arent ya? go on.. kill me.. do it in a cowardly way!"
"You're ridiculous.. i can already sense you're scared and are about to pee in your pants.." - Irene says letting go of his throat.
"Me? Scared? HAH... i'm not..."
"Perhaps i should try out some Conjuring Spells.. how about i summon a Flame Atronach to attack you?" - Irene looks at him with now a serious look, her purple eyes piercing into his eyes making him sweat with nervousity.
"A..a.. Atronach? ... you wouldnt d.. dare.." - He stutter.
"She would!" - Alana answers him.
"Y..you.. you..." - he tried to say something, but instead he yells out like a bear and leaps forward towards Irene drawing his dagger and tries to hit her with it.. but she just takes up her sword and he simply jumps into it, then falling on the stone floor dead.
"Thats.. one way of doing it, i guess.." - Alana looks at Irene.
"I simply sensed his nervousity.. saw it in his eyes.." - Irene looks back at Alana.. "Its a way behind there, he has a key around his neck.. perhaps there is something down there, shall we look while we're in this ruin?"
"Sure.. sounds interesting!" - Alana answers with a smile and follows Irene to the door which she unlocks with the key and then continues further in the ruin.
Not so far in, they met a bunch of Dwarven Spheres roaming around the room, with steams coming out of their mechanism when they see the two ladies walking towards them thinking they were instan threat for the ruin and their job is to protect and guard.
Close to an elevator, leading to the lower level of Raldbthar, Irene and Alana got attacked by those electrical mechanical spiders, they were at least easier match than the Spheres..
"Alright.. lets head downstairs!" - Irene says as she pull the lever to the elevator and it slowly goes down. After a minute or two, it was at the bottom, and there they met a Falmer who welcomed them with a blind smile and a sword, wasnt too friendly.. but he also died quickly cause he was rather weak.
"I really wonder whats further in this huge ruin.." - Alana decides to bring up a conversation while walking through the misty and dark hallway filled with pipes.
"Who knows.. i dont think there's ever been anyone down here for a while.. only Falmers.. but whatever it is, i hope its something worth the find." - Irene smiles back, making Alana blush... "you blush alot when i give you a smile.."
"Me? no, i dont!"
"Yes you do!" - Irene giggles.
"Well.. i dont know why i do.. perhaps its just how i am.." - Alana says looking down on the ground while still walking next to Irene.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of.. i just find it cute." - Irene strokes Alana's back with a friendly touch.
"You're just too sweet... but you're just making me blush even more now!"
"You're sooooo cute!" - Irene gently pinches her nose.
"Hey.. stop it!" - Alana pushes Irene away and then laughs emberassingly... "huh.. whats this room? lots of cogwheels all around, but not all are running.."
"Looks like they're stuck, and there's a bridge there too... perhaps we should fix them to get the bridge down?" - Irene looks around the room while checking if its anything hostile around too.
"Perhaps.. what if i check the cogwheels on the left side, and you check those on the right side?" - Alana looks at Irene, who nods and then walks seperate way to check it out. After lots of cursing and struggle.. all the cogwheels where now running smoothly and they met up again.
"And this button should lower the bridge..." - Irene pushes it.. seeing the bridge fall down with a laud slam.
"Everything here have to be so laud..." - Alana just sighted.. "wait.. do you hear that?"
"Almost like... something's heavy walking?" - Alana looks around the room.. and Irene listens closely too.
"Hmm.. there is.. but its probably the cogwheels messing up.." - Irene just says.. "but lets stay guarded!"
"I really dont like this.. not one bit.." - Alana looks at Irene with concern while walking next to her over the bridge.
"Now it just became silent.. like i dont hear footsteps anymore.."
"Almost too quiet.. maybe..." - but Irene couldnt finish before they both crash into two huge metallic feets, and as Alana look up she gasps with a most surprised expression Irene have never seen before...
