  • More on scripting in Skyrim

One developer who has been particularly talkative (about what he's actually allowed to talk about) on the official forums is SmkViper. His interview on the Beth Blog states his responsibilities are: ..creating and maintaining Skyrim’s brand new scripting language. This usually involves not only creating new language features and functions, but also writing up a metric ton of wiki documentation, various external tools (which includes a full-blown compiler), editor additions, and on-the-spot ...

  • Interview with richerhk, September FotM winner (Brisa Almodovar)

Each month, we try to interview the author of the winning File of the Month. Richerhk's Brisa Almodovar won with 55 votes in September, the highest total in a long time on FO3Nexus. Read below for all the answers, and thanks again to Richerhk for participating. What was your inspiration for creating Brisa Almodovar? All the other companion mods on the Nexus inspired me. I'd start naming them, but I wouldn't want to miss anybody! I played with them for quite awhile before I started tinkerin...

  • Nexus Mod Manager entering phase 2 of release

Back in September I officially announced the work we've been doing on a Nexus Mod Manager. To recap, we will soon be releasing a Nexus Mod Manager that expands and improves upon the current OBMM and FOMM offerings. On top of the mod managing capabilities you expect, the Nexus Mod Manager will integrate with the sites, allowing you to one-click download and install from the sites themselves through the manager. And what's more, it's free, advertisement free, and completely open source. We...

  • Skyrim Script Extender possible

Many of the best mods for Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout use Script Extenders, like Deadly Reflex for Oblivion. Not only do they add hundreds of script commands that let you do things that would otherwise have been impossible, but they also allow the modder to patch the engine's executable code in memory to fix or change things, without touching any files (which means that there are no permanent effects). Ever since Skyrim was confirmed to use Steam people have been worrying whether or not a...

They also have uploaded two of the songs from the Andoran soundtrack to YouTube, titled "Skogg" and "Boundary Forest". ...

  • Skyrim Nexus launches

Don't worry, you're not late, I'm just early. In just over 5 weeks The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released in North America. Traditionally I have waited until around the time of launch to release a Nexus site for Fallout 3, New Vegas, Dragon Age and The Witcher. However, I seem to be waking up every day to emails asking me if I'm going to release a site for Skyrim or whether I'm going to integrate Skyrim in to TESNexus, so I'm putting the flag in the ground today and putting the doubts (...

  • Nexus hits 2.5 million registered members, competition ending soon

In the early hours of the morning of the 2nd of October 2011 the Nexus sites hit their latest registered member milestone of 2,500,000, just a couple of months past the 10 year anniversary of the sites. Recording for the current number of members originally began back in July of 2003 when Morrowind Chronicles became Morrowind Source and I moved to using Invision Board from YaBB. I'm not sure there are any still-active members from that period in the site's history, but I'd love to hear from you ...

Bethesda have allowed the plebs to sample Skyrim which has resulted in a number of first hand accounts of experiences and information unfiltered by 'gaming journalistic standards' to be posted. The comments are posted in forum format, which appears to be far more useful at getting information across than wink-and-nod insider articles. First up is our very own Dark0ne. • Oblivion texts turned into a single tome

Gamerfront brings news about a Reddit user called notadoctoreither who has formatted, printed, and bound every text that appears in Oblivion. We’re not talking about standard printer paper with a cardboard binding. No, he went all-out with some high-quality paper, and leather binding. The total cost of the project was roughly $130, and roughly a month’s worth of work. Half of that time was spent getting the text formatted for printing. While he isn't making any more copies you can down...

  • No Mutants Allowed reviews Lonesome Road

Brother None from the famous Fallout fansite No Mutants Allowed has reviewed the final story DLC Lonesome Road. He says that it contains a superb atmosphere but also contains a lot of linear, first person shooter style gameplay which doesn't follow the same style as the rest of the Fallout games, or even the two most recent Fallout games. The DLC's strongest point is atmosphere. Unlike the other DLCs, you're given no background through slideshows or expository opening dialogs, you just wan...
