Skyrim Collector's Edition details

  • Comment
Details about the Skyrim Collector’s Edition were announced at QuakeCon a few days ago.
The Collector’s Edition will set you back $149.99 (US), €149.99 (Europe), £129.99 (UK), or A$199.99 (Australia). It is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

The Collector’s Edition will contain the game, a cloth map of the world (which anyone who pre-orders the game will get), “The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” DVD, “The Art of Skyrim” book, and a 12 inch statue of Alduin (the World Eater dragon).
The statue of Alduin is 12 inches tall and made of high-quality PVC material. According to press release notes, the dragon is modeled after the game’s 3D files, and is perched on top of one of Skyrim’s “dragon walls” (the walls that teach the player the language of the dragons).
The “Making of” DVD that goes behind the scenes of Skyrim’s development and includes interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team that tell you about all the steps involved in creating Skyrim as well as give insight on the gameplay, story, and history of the Elder Scrolls franchise.
The official art book of Skyrim is over 200 pages long and includes full-color illustrations, models, and sketches. With a foreword written by Todd Howard himself, as well as commentary by Bethesda artists, the book will be sure to guide you through all the art styles used in the game. “The Art of Skyrim” is 9 by 12 inches, perfect for your coffee table.
The cloth map is available to anyone who pre-orders the game, not just the collector’s edition. It is reportedly made of high quality cloth material and has a copy of the ingame map on it.
The Collector’s Edition is currently only available for pre-order through select retailers in North America, Europe, and Australia. Bethesda warns that quantities are “extremely limited”, so if you plan on purchasing the collector’s edition it would be better to do it sooner rather than later.

I would've paid 80-100 quid for it but 130? daaaaaaaaaaaamn! I can get a 3rd GTX 460 in SLI for that...

This Collectors Edition thing seems awesome. I mean... you get an artbook, an awesome statue and a s#*! load of other cool stuffs!
I would love to see all the concept art and making of the game and all that.

    ... But seriously... That price...
I do not have $ or € as currency (I live in Sweden, KR/KRONOR/KRONA...?) but even I can see that it's rather expensive... Over a thousand KR I would suppose, if you look at the price for €, am I wrong? (I suck at this kind of things... But I assume it might be around 1500 KR?)
I want all of this so badly, but it's just to expensive for me.. ):

No deal...I've in the past regretted buying collectors editions with the simple fact is that I buy the game for the game...not some added stuff that just collects dust in my closet...sorry no deal!!! I'll enjoy and appreciate the game on its own for what it is and then some...

The costs for this are way up for me to get it. There are some cool stuff in there, but I'd rather buy them separately at a lower price.

Well, although limited edition sounds nice, this pre-order pricetag is just ridiculous. I mean, making-of? Nobody cares anyway. The statue is nice to watch it getting dusty on a shelf, but I'd rather look at the dragons ingame. And the rather small cloth map is unnessesary, a big poster would have been better. The only thing I really want is the concept art book, but not if I have to pay 200% more just for that. A short demo 1 month or something before the release if you pre-ordered would have been better.

P.S.: By the way, after the story with Gothic 3 I never buy any game right after its release. Even Oblivion was best played after the patch and a couple of mods.

If you guys are getting it on the computer, you could just take the music from the Data folder and burn it to a disc if you want an OST so badly...

Im betting that the best pictures from the art book will be turned into wallpapers by some wizard or another, so even if I dont buy it we will still seem them around. I bet some parts of the DVD will end up on youtube too^^. They can keep the dragon, it isnt worth $100 to me <img class=">. Since we all preordered it anyway, we are all getting a nice cloth map for free so I dont see the point if this is all the collectors edition has. If we wait a while, we can be sure that the GOTY edition will have whatever expansions are added on within the first year or so with all of the DLC that will undoubtedly make its way onto the market as well. The money Ill save from not getting the CE will be better spent on another couple of games^^. And no OST? Sorry Bethesda, I love your games but this is dropping the ball.

Considering the standard price of PC games is €50 here, it means you get a PVC statue, artwork and a map for about €100. That seems very expensive!

But I'm going to get it anyway, considering how much time I'll likely spend playing the game.
