File authors: tag your files to confirm them

  • Comment
As mentioned a couple of days back the file tagging system is now up and running. All users who have uploaded files, are going to upload files, or admins of the site can tag their files themselves and completely ignore the voting system necessary to confirm tags. The original system remains the same; 3 agreements are necessary from users on a specific tag before it becomes confirmed, that is, before it can be found via the tag search feature, but on top of this the uploader of a file, or a site admin, simply needs to tag the file themselves to instantaneously confirm tags (bypassing the need for the 3 agreements from members). Once a tag is uploader or admin confirmed it cannot be voted for or against by users of the site.

There is also a new convenient link to the tagging window for all your uploaded files in your member area. If you have already tagged your files and want to confirm the tags then first select the disagree option, then agree with it again.

It says that tags suggested by the uploader are supposed to be automatically confirmed...this is not the case.

It may be worthwhile to have a page linked from the tagging popup which codifies what belongs in a given category.

As an example, Enchanting Supplies obviously fits under Magic - Enchanting, but does PotionSense, which renames all of the standard potions but does not otherwise modify them, and does not add new ones, fit under Magic - Potions?

Another: should a mod that is dependent on TB or BM also have Morrowind as a tag?

(If you do do this, might make sense to start another thread to see what people think is logical)

I would like to mention that (for me, at least) when I do a tag search, pages with low amounts of results (an example is to do a search for Morrowind, Lore Friendly) don't show the results, just an ad. Can that be fixed?

    Thanks,

This new tagging system certainly will help us mod d/lers <img class="> out quite a bit. And it makes the tagging system more needful <img class=">

Thanks for this! It will make tagging much more useful and complete. Now not only the popular mods will have tags!

If you are the uploader of this file then suggesting or agreeing with tags will automatically confirm the tag.

Added to the page blurb. No need for a whole new button.

It seems that simply suggesting a tag again (without disagreeing) is sufficient. Even more convenient, you can use backspace to go back to the suggestion page, and just hit Suggest again.

May be desirable to have a Confirm button available for mod uploaders, to make it clear that this bypasses the 3-vote system.
