About

madmole (Joel Huenink) released a set of beard meshes as an SDK, so I repackaged everything into an easy to use mod called Nords With Beards.I forgot to set the voices though, so no bearded Nords had voices. I didn't bother fixing it as various modders were talking about finding a way to make these beards not require using a custom race to use. Well, it has been a few months and no progress seems to have been made, so I decided to expand it to all races except Argonians and Khajiit. I also finished madmole's set, as only one beard mesh had all 5 color options. My reasoning for including Alter is that Bethesda gave Bosmer and Dunmer beards in Morrowind, so there is no logical reason as to why an Alter shouldn't be able to grow one.

Currently 5 different beard meshes each with 5 color variations for a total of 25 beards available, each style has it's own ESP. 200 new races on one game seemed like a bad idea. Comes with an option for them to conform to the face and a stationary option. Also has a bald hairstyle option since the beards and default Oblivion hair don't look right together. You must either start a new game or use the console to change your race.

Installation Process

Extract all files to c:\program files\bethesda softworks\oblivions\data. When
you are asked to overwrite files under meshes and textures, select 'yes to all'.

Enable the ESP of the desired beard.

If you do not like the way the beards move with the face sliders, delete the folder 'beard' in data\meshes\characters and rename the folder 'beardalt' to 'beard'.

Bugs/Glitches

Some beards will show gaps or graphical glitches if you use the default settings. Using the 'beardalt' folder will allow for you to fill in the gaps if you don't like them.

The way the beards are rigged seems to alter some head meshes, more pronounced in Alter, Dunmer, and Orcs. Also, beards don't fit Orcs very well.

If you have "googly eyes," then know it is not truly this mod's fault. It is an incompatibility certain eye meshes have with Bethesda's mesh. You are most likely running a cosmetic mod that adds eyes, probably Beautiful People v2.2. I have no intentions of fixing this problem as it would involve editing all 200 races to make them work, way too much work. Beautiful People v3.0 will completely fix this problem when it is released anyway. But if you can't wait till then, or are using a different cosmetic mod, download Spunkydamunky's excellent fix to my Nords With Beards mod along with my Nords With Beards mod. You loose out on the other 7 races, but you have all the beards and they work with your cosmetic mod.

If you are hung up on the prison cell because the Dunmer will not insult you, hence advancing the game, you will need a custom race fix. I suggest the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, due to how many bugs it fixes overall.
