DarNified UI Tweaked v. 1.1

ABOUT:

Even though DarNified UI has been my favourite choice as an alternative User Interface (without bugs), I have always been bothered by the fact that the handwritten books and notes in the game use the not so attractive (when not in the UI) Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_18_DarNified.fnt, instead of the original Handwritten.fnt. This mod is my attempt to remedy the situation. What it basically does is to allow you to put the Handwritten font back into the game (more on that later); it also changes some values in some of the files of DarNified UI, so that whenever the Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_18_DarNified font was used, Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_22_DarNified (which is a little bit larger) is used instead (both fonts come with DarNified UI, which is needed for this mod be effective).

Version 1.1 fixes:
- Fixed stats_menu.xml, so that the last line of the 5th page of the stats menu can be read
- Instructions included (step n. 6) for installing alternative fonts, so that it is now compatible with Shivering Isles and latest patch
- Fixed map_menu.xml, so that the bottom of the Shivering Isles map is now visible (and the map shown is still zoomed 75%, as in the original DarNified UI); I haven't tested it, but the problem MAY be gone for those using a widescreen resolution as well

To look for any changes that I have made, search for "apet07" in the .xml files

INSTALLATION:

1. Download and install DarNified UI (at the moment of writing these lines, I could only find two Omod versions of it: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=7830 and http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=3956), following its instructions.

2. Make (yet another) back-up copy of your Oblivion.ini file (found in C:\Documents and Settings\<my user name>\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion) and then open it.<br><br>3. Find this line: sfontfile_5=Data\Fonts\Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_18_DarNified.fnt<br><br>4. Change it to sfontfile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt and save the document<br><br>5. IMPORTANT!: Check out each file that is included in this mod; if another file with the same name and in the same (equivalent) directory is already installed in your Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\menus directory, then replace the latter with the former. OTHERWISE, DO NOT INSTALL A FILE FROM MY MOD. In other words, use only the files from my mod for which an equivalent file is already found in your Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\menus directory after having installed the original DarNified UI mod. It goes without saying, of course, that, if you did a complete installation of DarNified UI, then you should use all the files included in this mod.<br><br>6. Download Theo's Kingthings Petrock v1.5 (found in http://tessource.net/files/file.php?id=3061) and place only the files titled Kingthings_Petrock_16.tex and Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt in the Oblivion\Data\fonts directory. Open Oblivion.ini, found in C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion, change the line that reads “sfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_22_DarNified.fnt” to “sfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt” and save the document<br><br>7. I have also included an alternative version of hudmainmenu_config.xml (found in Optional tweaks of this mod) that makes the graphical timer over the effect icons visible again, while maintaining the numerical value on top of them (like in the original BTmod). If you want the graphical timer back, use this file instead of the one found in the menus\prefabs\ui_config directory of this mod. Note that this will bring the effect icons back to their original size, because the graphical timer itself doesn't scale.<br><br>=====================================<br><br>NOTES:<br><br>Many thanks to DarN for an excellent User Interface. Thanks also to those people at the official forum who have unknowingly helped me find a solution to both the missing text and cropped SI map issues after Shivering Isles and the latest patch<br><br>To be honest, I cannot say that I understand everything that is found in those xml files. As a result, it has been a case of trial-and-error. Issues will most certainly arise; if you find any, please send me your suggestions through a PM at the ES forums (my username there is, quite surprisingly, apet07).</your></my>
