1. Introduction

This mod allows you to extract poisons from a variety of ingredients, and then apply them to foods. These foods can then be placed on NPCs so that when they're eaten, the NPC is poisoned.

2. Installation

Extract the archive to your Oblivion/Data folder. Or if you're doing it manually, place the .esp in the Data folder, and the meshes in Data/Meshes/ecm. Icons go into Data/Textures/menus/icons/ecm.

3. Description
---------------------------------------------------------

The process of poisoning starts with the poison ingredients. There are 9 ingredients to extract poisons from, and 3 different types of poison available. Poisons are extracted by equipping the Poison Retort, then selecting the desired ingredient. Only one type of poison can be extracted from each ingredient. These poisons are not consumeable, nor can they be applied to weapons. Successful extraction is directly related to your Alchemy skill.

To apply a poison to food, first ensure you have the desired food item and poison in your inventory. Then equip the appropriate Poison Needle, and select the food you wish to poison. Poisoning is always successful. All of the food's effects are replaced by the poison effect, and the food becomes weightless (so it can be placed on an NPC). Poisoned foods are worth only 1 gold (as opposed to the 300 of the Dark Brotherhood's Poisoned Apple), since they are now so easy to make. It is possible to use poisoned foods to create potions through Alchemy, but you can only drink these yourself since the effects are counted as "non-hostile".

More detailed information will be available in book form in-game, and in the readme.

The poison apparatus can be bought from Shady Sam, or from M'raaj-Dar of the Dark Brotherhood. Alternatively, they can be obtained from a sack outside the Imperial Prison Sewer Exit, along with a few more of the new items, for those who want to get started immediately. Also, each of these sources has three potions which cure each type of poison, for the more careless would-be assassins.

4. Compatibility/Known Issues

Anything that alters the Poisoned Apple may encounter conflicts. In addition, do not use this with my Cooking Mod Demo, since the poisons don't seem to work when you run these mods together. Mods that alter Shady Sam's or M'raaj-Dar's vendor inventories may also have minor conflicts with this Poisoning mod.

- added spells to cure the non-fatal poisons. These can be bought from M'raaj-Dar, or learned from scrolls provided in the sack at the Sewer Exit.
