Description
-----------
Bullet Time by Kai Hohiro is a great mod that got me thinking how cool it would be to have a bunch of different game speed settings that one could choose instantly before or during combat for help in taking action screenshots and for just plain fun.

This mod is less immersive combat oriented than Bullet Time, but adds many more speed options, crash protection and improved Vanity Camera control at all speeds. With game speeds available from 0.2% to 200% (WHOOSH!) it is aimed primarily as an aid for getting action screenshots, but its Matrix like effects and high speeds can also be a blast! :)

This mod is also very useful for those that have less than ideal hardware for playing Oblivion. One can use it to find the speed that ends the "slideshow" effect of lagging when one is in combat with too many mobs then set that speed for the main key in the CS. IF YOU USE A COMPUTER THAT LAGS DURING COMBAT, YOU SHOULD TRY THIS BEFORE CUTTING DOWN YOUR GRAPHICS TOO MUCH.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to slow down game speed to compensate for a lagging machine - I do it every time I get that slideshow effect.

This mod has no meshes or textures to worry about, just a small esp.

THIS MOD REQUIRES OBSE v.0008 OR HIGHER

Usage
-----
On first use, I'd suggest holding the B key, the default stop key, a second or so and see if you get the message "Time = 100%." If so you should be good to go. If you have a lot of things taxing the cpu, it may take a little longer. Afterwards you should be able to change speeds at any speed with a key press that's just a bit longer than a tap. The new built-in Vanity Camera Smoothing will take effect upon first use.

About Messages: The default setting for how long a message is displayed is three seconds. There is a setting for this in the CS, but all accounts say it doesn't work, so for now we are stuck with three seconds per message. Oblivion uses the game time not real time for displaying messages. While I've included messages telling you what speed you just set, very often at the lower speeds you will not see these messages if you change speeds frequently. It is an unfortunate affect that at very low speeds the messages last a very long time and can and will overwrite later messages.

While I've never had to start the "quest" manually, I'll tell you how just in case. Use "~" to enter the console. Type "StartQuest DCSpeedControlQuest" then hit enter.

Key use:
There are two easy to reach main keys (assignable) to start and stop the speed control.

The G key changes game time to 5% of normal. (I chose this speed mainly for the purpose of getting screenshots. It is easily changeable in the CS if one wants a different speed for that key - look for DCSpeedControl script) The H key will put the speed back to normal. Using any menu will also put the speed back to normal.

The numeric keypad can be used at any time, except in menus, to select the following speeds:

0 - 0.2% - As close as I could get to completely stopped yet still be able to run reliably.
1 - 10%
2 - 20%
3 - 30%
4 - 40%
5 - 50%
6 - 75%
7 - 125% - Some high speeds in case you have to wait awhile to set up a shot or just for fun. WHOOSH :)
8 - 150% - High speeds are useful in other ways too
9 - 200%.

Assigning different keys for the main key and the stop key:
-----------------------------------------------------------
First you will need the DX Scancodes for the keys you want to use. You can find them here: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/IsKeyPressed2
For instance, V and B use the codes 47 and 48 respectively.

The main key is set to be an easy to reach key so you will be able to start speed control even if you are busy in the middle of a battle. But if you need to change it, enter the console and type "set DCSpeedControlQuest.mainKey to XXX" using no quotes and XXX being the DX scancode for the key of your choice.

For the stop key: set DCSpeedControlQuest.stopKey to XXX

Installation
------------
This archive is distributed in what lhammonds calls OMOD-Ready format. It allows you to manually extract and install like most other mods but it also allows you to use Oblivion Mod Manager and import this archive with all the settings I pre-configured for an OMOD file.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT:
If you are upgrading from the previous version with a different name, you will have to do the uninstall, save, reinstall routine for the new version to work.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick which method you are going to use for installation:

1. Manual Method
2. OBMM Method

Manual Install
--------------
1. Extract this archive to any folder and then copy the contents to Oblivion's Data folder. You can ignore or delete the "omod conversion data" folder.
2. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, and enable the WHOOSH.esp file.

OBMM Install
------------
Create the OMOD (Do this section only once)
1. Copy archive to <install folder>\Oblivion\obmm\omod\<br>2. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.<br>3. Click the Create button.<br>4. Click the Add Archive button, find and select the archive, then click Yes.<br>5. Click the Create omod button, then click OK when it finishes.<br><br>Install the mod using OBMM<br>1. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.<br>2. Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen. <br>(icon should turn blue)<br><br>Manual Uninstall<br>----------------<br>1. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the WHOOSH.esp file.<br>2. Delete the WHOOSH.esp file.<br><br>OBMM Uninstall<br>--------------<br>1. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.<br>2. Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen, <br>click Yes. (icon should turn green)<br><br>Incompatibility<br>---------------<br><br>Only mods that may use the same keys, especially the numpad, or affect game speed in some way would be incompatible <br><br>Bullet Time may work with this mod, but will probably have unusual effects with simultaneous use. For instance, using the menu while in Bullet Time will most likely cancel the speed effect of Bullet Time but leave the others still in effect i.e. blur, buffs and sounds.<br><br>Known Issues or Bugs<br>--------------------<br>None at this time. The only thing I can think of that might happen is that one may have an autosave happen when in some other speed than normal. If one uninstalled this mod then loads that autosave, one will probably be stuck at that speed. It's a good idea not to depend on one autosave anyway. <br><br>History<br>-------<br>11/03/2006 - 0.3 - Switched the main key and stop key to G and H repectively because of reported conflicts with V and B.<br><br>Fixed an issue where holding the R key or just quickly switching from it to a menu key would make the vanity camera misbehave and leave one stuck in 3rd person until reset with a speed change.<br><br>Added WHOOSH sounds for key presses for feedback since messages last a very long time at slow speeds.<br><br>10/31/2006 - 0.2 - Added improved Vanity Camera Control at all speeds which also supersedes the changes made by the "Vanity Camera Smoother" mod and makes it unnecessary.
