1. Description

*************************
Oblivion PolyGone Overhaul (OPO) is an ambitious project to reduce Bethesedas overly "generous" use of polygons on ingame objects with little to no loss in quality.

Ultimately it is the goal of the project to improve a gamers
performance via:
-Shortened loading times
-Less popin
-Potentially better framerates
-Less Hard Drive Thrashing.
Note: There is no guarantee of any of the above gains...yet.
None. Nada. Zip. You may get some benefit. You may not. I make no
promises that this will helping anything.

2. Version History\What's Included\

*************************

BETA: Sept 15, 2006 initial release.

Rocks
The first round of objects to benefit from OPO is the common rocks and boulders that are everywhere within the game.
Many of these objects are upwards of 3000 polys and used hundred if not thousands of times.
For example, one rock is used 46000 times, another is used 16000
times. The objects can safely be reduced significantly down
20%-40% of their original total polygon count with no loss of
quality.

Iggeys VWD
This allows you see to many objects from far away like towns, forts, ruin, Cloud Ruler Temple, etc
VWD = View When Distant. Previously TamrielVWD was doing this but with full polys so this was a significant performance hit.
Iggey has reduced all the polys on the VWD. It's quite spectacular to see Weye from Aleswell.

Cathedral
Hellmark and 5H4RP Polycount 29900 > 20100

Updates
0.1 - Fixed invalid texture paths (Colovian Highlands, GF Lichen)
0.2 - Fixed invalid texture paths (GF, GF Moss, Camoran Paradise)
0.3 - Updated NiTriStips, fixed invalid texture paths (again) (Oblivion)
0.4 - Fixed two meshes in Great Forest - Moss region that were causing crashes
0.5 - Added UOP support for rocks, renamed all meshes to .nif

4. Installation

To extract the standard file you will need 7zip (www.7-zip.org).
You will need Oblivion Mod Manager for the omod file (http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.html)

To install:
Extract the standard file into Oblivion/Data folder or Load the omod file in Oblivion Mod Manager

If you are not using a texture replacement for your rocks (ie Qarl's or Jarrod's) you may see pink (missing) textures on some of the rocks. If this happens you will need to download the default textures for these rocks and extract them to your Oblivion\Data directory. Please be sure not to
overwrite any exisiting files as these may be custom textures you have already installed.

This file is hosted at, http://rapidshare.de/files/33612619/base_textures.7z.html
or
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5H197D10

It is optional to install TamrielVWD 0.5 by Rain_NZ. Both the esp and the lod files included with RaiN's mod are necessary to use Iggey's VWD, which is included in this mesh package.

This file is hosted at,
http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=6403

Tamriel VWD 0.5 is also hosted under our Planet Elder Scrolls mirror, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1848

DEFRAG your drive!
This is not necessary but highly recommended after installing any mod.

To uninstall:
Well, have fun with that. Easy enough to do.

If you don't know what to do or have deleted your original file,
download the omod version, install it using Oblivion Mod Manager, active then deactive it :o) delete the omod.

OBMM is located here,

6. File requirements/Compatibility

*************************

File requirements:

To use view Iggeys VWD that allows you to see most buildings from
far away (they have been low polyed) you need to have
TamrielVWD by Rain_NZ installed.
http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=6403
or

Compatibility.
Yes, it is compatible with OOO 1.3 and pretty much everything else.

Oh wait, not compatible with Parallax Cities once we start getting into that.
Currently we are only modiying the rocks as the BETA and the LOD meshes with Iggey's VWD.
Neither of these effect Parallax Cities, yet.
