This is a small mod that does a relatively simple thing. It stops the game from recognizing Quest Items for the purposes of dropping them from your inventory. While this can cause complications with dropping items you may need at some later point in time, I thought it was time to take one of the many training wheels off of the game. After all, the game is based on the freedom to do what you want, when you want - including make mistakes.
I made this mod for two main reasons:
1) I felt that it was just stupid that the game stops you from making mistakes. God doesn't stop us from losing our car keys, why should it be any different in Oblivion?
2) Sometimes you can't drop quest items even after the relevant quest is over with. This is annoying and just leads to inventory clutter. Plus I want to decorate my houses with unique items. :P
Tell me about any problems with this mod in case I got overzealous and accidentally changed something I should have left alone.
INSTALLATION
Just put the .esp file in your Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data folder and enable the file before you start your game. Simple, right?
NOTE
This mod only changes the references for quest items in the unchanged, "vanilla" version of Oblivion. If another mod you have adds a quest item, this mod will not touch it.
CONFILCTS
This mod may confilct with other mods that change the status of quest items. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, as one of the mods will simply take priority over the other's changes.
