-- Introduction --
This is, essentially, a 'realism' mod. It’s designed to simulate the need for food and sleep, but instead of creating a mysterious background 'hunger' or 'tiredness' which silently grows until suddenly you are
damaged from lack of eating/sleeping, I decided that there needed 1) to be a more tangible way to identify when you needed food or sleep, and 2) design it so that eating and being did more than just prevent a series of punishments for failing to do so. Then, I realised there already was a system in place to simulate your exhaustion: Fatigue.

I have never been satisfied with they way Oblivion handles Fatigue. Having low fatigue doesn't have a noticeable affect on gameplay. You can still attack, ostensibly doing 'less' damage, and even at 0 fatigue, you can still sprint and jump around a like a monkey who's just been told that the world banana surplus is being airlifted into his forest. Then within seconds of dropping off, you are at full again because the regen rate is so high. To me, the little green bar on the bottom of my HUD had no effect whatsoever on the way I played the game. It might as well not have been there at all. This mod changes that.

-- What this mod does --
Makes a change to the basic assumption about the fatigue bar. Now, the fatigue bar represents your overall exhaustion from the rigors of adventuring. When it drops low, you will need to sleep to recover it. Keeping yourself fed will slow the rate at which you tire out.

Full details on game mechanics are in the ReadMe file and the http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=478618&st=0

v1.2
-- Hand to Hand --
If you use a Hand to Hand mod which increases the Fatigue Damage of Hand to Hand combat, you will find that enemies will drop unconscious faster, and once they do, they do not get back up again. The Vim_and_Vigor_H2H.esp will make it so that humanoid enemies that are knocked out this way will regain consciousness a few seconds after being knocked out (assuming you don't kill them before they get up again). This esp uses standard timescale.

v1.1
-- Vampires --
When you become a vampire, you no longer need to eat or sleep. Instead, your fatigue bar becomes represents your "Blood Hunger". Once you feed, you will recover a majority of your Blood Hunger. If you don't feed and your hunger reaches 0, you will advance to the next stage of Vampirism and game a new full Hunger bar.

I designed it to be compatible with all other vampirism mods, but I only tested it on Vanilla Vampirism.

-- Timescale --
There are two additional esp files for TimeScale mod compatibility.
If you do not use a timescale mod and play Oblivion using the default timescale, use Vim_and_Vigor.esp.
If you use a mod which changes the timescale to 15 or 12 (2x or 2.5x speed) use Vim_and_Vigor_2.5x.esp.
If you use a mod with changes the timescale to 6 (5x speed) use Vim_and_Vigor_5x.esp.
Use only one of the three esps!

-- Version History --
1.2 - Vim_and_Vigor_H2H.esp added. This esp file is for use instead of Vim_and_Vigor.esp, and will make humanoid enemies which are knocked unconscious regain consciousness after a few seconds. It is intended for use with a mod which increases H2H Fatigue Damage. If you are not using a mod which does this, I recommend you use standard V&V.
1.1 - Vampire support added.
- Uninstall feature added.
- Timescale Support added.
- Renamed a few abilities to be more in line with the theme of the mod.
- Added compatibility with Laurinque's Better Beer bottles for the Alcohol optional mod.

1.0 - Initial Release

-- Compatibility --
Will not be compatible with other eat/sleep mods, or mods that change Food items. The Alcohol optional esp will also conflict with mods that change alcohol, however, I added compatibility for Laurinque's Better Beer bottles. Many thanks to Laurinque!

I also recommended using a bedroll mod. Both of these are very good:
http://www.tessource.net/files/cache/2524.html - Thojorkill's Better Bedroll
http://www.tessource.net/files/cache/1805.html - Aridale's Portable bedroll

-- Installation --
1. Copy all files to you Oblivion/Data directory. If asked to overwrite, select "Yes to all"
2. Activate Vim_and_Vigor.esp (or 2.5x/5x)
3. Optionally activate Vim_and_Vigor_Alcohol.esp
4. Add the lines in the ArchiveInvalidation.txt to the one in the /Oblivion folder (do not overwrite the file. If you already have Better Beer Bottles installed, you do not need to do this step)
5. Enjoy!

-- Uninstallation --
1. Open your savegame with Vim and Vigor still activated. Open the console with the '~' key. Type: startquest uninstallvimvigor. YOU MUST DO THIS TO ENSURE YOU SAVEGAME DOES NOT GET CORRUPTED
2. Save your game in a new savegame slot.
3. Deavtivate the esp.
Removal: Delete these files/folders after uninstalling the mod
1. Oblivion/Data/Textures/Menus/icons/vimandvigor (folder)
2. Oblivion/Data/Vim_and_Vigor.esp
3. Oblivion/Data/Vim_and_Vigor_2.5x.esp
4. Oblivion/Data/Vim_and_Vigor_5x.esp
5. Oblivion/Data/Vim_and_Vigor_Alcohol.esp

-- Mod Mechanics --
All players gain 3000 points of additional fatigue. As time goes by, your fatigue will drop. Running will

This means that you will become exhausted in about 20 hours game-time. If you don't ever eat, you will last only 10 or so. As you gain levels (and your fatigue increases) you can go longer.

The only way to regenerate fatigue is through restful sleep (in a bed). If you wait around, your fatigue will continue to drop off and you might pass out.

-- Eating --
In order to gain benefits of eating, you will need to prepare your rations first. Nearly all food items in the game can be prepared into rations. Each food item was assigned a value based on what type of food and how much it is. For example, an Apple is worth 1 food unit. Ham is worth 2. An entire pumpkin is worth 3. Simply click on food item to prepare it, once you have prepared 5 units of food you will create a Prepared Rations pack. These foodstuffs are now tightly wrapped and will last virtually forever. You can prepare multiple rations if you have enough food for more than 1 pack.

Prepared Rations are added to the 'miscellaneous' section of your inventory. To break open and eat a Prepared Ration, click on the Eating Utensils in your 'misc' section of your inventory. You can only eat a meal once every 5 hours of game-time (600 seconds real-time). This counter will show in your upper right hand corner of your HUD.

However, you cannot just keep eating and eating. After 3 meals, you will have to sleep at least 6 hours to allow your body some time to fully absorb all the yummy vitamins and minerals that keep a growing
adventurer strong.

-- Magic, Potions, and You --
Magic is a great way to push yourself beyond the limits of normal mortals. You can still use any restore fatigue spells to give yourself that extra boost you need to make it to the next bed.

Restore Fatigue potions were virtually useless in vanilla Oblivion. However, now they could entirely replace the need to sleep and eat, so I removed the ability for most food items to be used to make Restore Fatigue potions. Now if you try to mix two foods together in a potion (or as I like to call it, soup) it will create a "Prepare Rations" potion that can create a ration pack. However, due to the boiling process, food loses some of its nutritional value and as such you will only get 1/2 the food value when creating your Rations using the Prepare Rations potion. As such, this method is not recommended.

The standard Strong/Normal/Weak Potions of Respite (Restore Fatigue) have had their Restore Fatigue values increased dramatically to compensate for their newfound rarity. They can still be bought at various alchemy shops based on whatever level list mod you are (or not) currently
using.

Some food items are individually too small to make a contribution to your Rations, such as strawberries and blackberries. Instead, using ancient alchemical techniques passed down from Master Alchemist to Master Alchemist, they can be combined into a sweet, delicious drink, called a 'Restore Fatigue Potion'

Lastly, I have included an optional, new, and effective method of restoring fatigue instantly: alcohol. See the Alcohol Overhaul section below for details.

-- Passing out --
If your fatigue drops to 0, you will pass out. Generally, this will only last a few seconds real-time and you will come to with some of your fatigue restored. Enough to get you to a bed, hopefully. If, however, this is due to a magical attack or because you waited/fast traveled while very low on fatigue, you may need to wait for several hours before you recover your strength enough to move again. Try not to pass out in front of your enemies. In addition to dangerous, it’s also highly embarrassing.

-- Bonus Ability --
You have a new power that can be used once a day. This ability allows you to regenerate fatigue, essentially halting your exhaustion level. It can be used if you run out of food or to push yourself to get through the current dungeon. It’s what makes you different from the other inhabitants of Cyrodiil who, while Oblivion Gates are opening up outside their cities and homes, are content to say to one another "Did you hear about the Oblivion Gates opening up all over the place?" rather than do anything about it.

-- Alcohol Overhaul --
To counterbalance the shortage of Restore Fatigue potions, all alcohols have been modified to serve this function and have a large Restore Fatigue effect added to them. They retain all their original 'negatives' such as Drain Intelligence and Drain Agility.

Every alcoholic beverage has been assigned a value based on how many alcohol units it contains. This is based on both alcohol percentage and volume consumed.
- Beer, Ale, Mead: 1 unit
- Lower-quality wines: 3 units
- High Quality wines and Brandy: 5 units

Alcohol leaves your system at a rate of 1 unit per hour.

Be warned, however, overdoing it can have very negative results! Accumulating 10 units of alcohol or more in your system will result in feeling like crap until your body has had time to process all the alcohol out of your system.

Skooma will also give you a huge temporary fatigue boost as the drug courses through your veins. Be warned that continued use has been known to make you dumb.

-- Additional Uses --
Feel free to use, modify or reverse-engineer this mod. All I ask,
however, is to be given credit. Thanks!
