DESCRIPTION
Sometimes things don't work out as you planned. I had a big, ambitious project that merged about a dozen different clothing and armour mods, adding clothing directly to lots of npcs, adding vendor chests to lots of vendors - and during playtesting it kept crashing. So I decided to go back to basics, and build up one step at a time.
Here's what I did:
1 - loaded Oblivion.esm and Abandoned Legacy.esp in the Construction Set, without setting an active file
2 - copied all of the clothing from Abandoned Legacy by the simple expedient of copying each item with the letter R added to the end of their FormIDs
3 - saved this as RecoveredLegacy and closed the Construction Set
4 - copied the resulting esp to a temp folder
5 - renamed the esp in Oblivion's Data folder to RecoveredLegacyLQM
6 - opened the Construction Set again with the new esp set as the active plugin
7 - created a respawning vendor chest, by copying an existing vendor chest, removing the existing item from the new chest, and added 1 of each copied Abandoned Legacy clothing item to the vendor chest
8 - added the new vendor chest to Lelle's Quality Mercandise
For role-playing purposes, I am assuming that Norbert Lelles found the original Abandoned Legacy chest, dragged it back to his store, and hired some local help to make new inventory he can sell. So now you can buy from the Recovered Legacy line, exclusively from Anvil's dockside general trader.
This mod includes all the meshes and textures from the original Abandoned Legacy mod, and two esps:
RecoveredLegacyLQM is playable immediately, as described above.
RecoveredLegacy is provided as a modders resource, to adapt and reuse as desired; e.g. merge with the Recoloured Dresses mod, and add the clothing to various npcs via the latter mod's dynamic script (though you'd probably have to increase the value of the Abandoned Legacy clothing items, to make the npcs wear them, suggest multiply by 5).
INSTALL
1 - extract to temp folder
2 - copy meshes and textures folders to Oblivion\Data folder
3 - copy esp file of choice to Oblivion\Data folder
4 - start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, and tick RecoveredLegacyLQM.esp to play immediately
Or, use RecoveredLegacy.esp as a resource however you desire
UNINSTALL
1 - start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, untick whichever .esp you have been using
2 - Delete the files and folders associated with this mod:
Oblivion\Data\Meshes\abandonedlegacy\
Oblivion\Data\Textures\abandonedlegacy\
Oblivion\Data\Textures\Menus\Icons\abandonedlegacy\
Oblivion\Data\RecoveredLegacyLQM.esp (or whichever you are using)
INCOMPATIBILITY
None known.
Copying only the clothing items means no changes to any cell or worldspace occurs in RecoveredLegacy.esp, and the only changes made between that and RecoveredLegacyLQM.esp are the creation of a vendor chest and its addition as a persistent reference to Lelle's Quality Mercandise.
The original mod's readme mentions possible clipping, due to use of Exnem's bodies during original creation. However, I used the original mod and a merged supermod while using HGEC and ZKEC bodies, and observed no issues.
The vendor chest is pushed far enough away from the existing chests below the floor of the AnvilLellesQualityMerchandise cell that, at worst, you'll get unsightly bleeding of chests into each other if another mod you're using adds a vendor chest in the same location. And we probably ought not worry that much over something a player will never see anyway.
