ROACH horse resource pack from THE WITCHER 3 - WILD HUNT by chakaru11


What is this?
Why a horse of corse! And not just any horse. It’s Roach, Gerald’s trusty companion from the Witcher games. Of corse it is not the original Roach, since good old Gerald has the (creepy) habit of naming all his horses Roach, no matter how many he owned on his journeys. This particular Roach is the one from The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt.

Waaaay back in the day my initial reason for buying TES4: Oblivion was simple:  HORSIES!!!!! 8D
Of corse I encountered a lot of other things about the game soon after, but to this day the Oblivion horses hold a special place in my heart. And if you know me a tiny bit, you are aware that I love porting horses from all kinds of games. So I jumped at the chance to port Roach, since CD Project is generous enough to allow the use of their stuff. But I am honest: I may have started this little project, but my first ROACH - porting attempt was terrible and after a lot of whining in our little modding whatsapp chat, the wonderful Myst42 caved and gave my shoddy work a makeover so that finally, FINALLY Roach liiiiives !!

Yeah nice, get to the point. What’s in in this download?

•  ROACH horse model in 7 (plus 1 extra) colours: Chestnut, Bay, Dun, Black, Grey, Dappled Grey, White (+ Cremello)
•  New mane and tail made from Oblivion vanilla models to fit Roach and reduce polycount
•  shiny new feathering for the legs by me :D
•  Two types of equipment for Roach: Zerricanian (red) and Ofiri (blue). Both were edited and retextured quite a bit to work for Oblivion
•  unicorn horn xD
• all models (horse body, mane+tail, feathering, equipment, horn) are seperate nif files for happy mix- and matching in the CS
•  additional: a tutorial to help you make your own ROACH mods :D
  

Oookay. So. Where do I find the horses ingame?

Please be aware (!) that this is NOT a replacer for the player owned horses!!!

I wanted to get the models out there for people to enjoy and make mods etc  - so the esp I included is for SHOWCASES only! I decided to not make a scripted player owned horse replacer because 1.) my game is in German and would have screwed around with your world cell names and 2.) there are so many replacers out there that conflicts would have been a strong possibility.

If you still want to use my esp, it goes like this:
The Roaches (xD) in the esp were strewn all over Cyrodiil and randomly parked in the various stables. They do not have scripts nor special features - they are just standing around being player-owned and minding their own business. All they can do is what Blossom (the horse from Weynon Priory) does: they let you ride around on them but as soon as you dismount, they wander off to one of the stables.
Which also means that there is a strong possibility that they will randomly leave the stable grounds even though you might not have been there yet. It happens.

So if you want them to replace your player owned horses, you will have to create your own mod for that! I even made a little Tutorial for the people who have never edited an esp file before :D It shows how to swap creature meshes fast and easy :D

To Myst42 for helping me out XD I know I kept whining until you caved and I am eternally grateful for that xD Although I have been modding Oblivion for years there is still so much I can not do and in those moments I tend to go all "HALP ME!!" and cling to the next best person who is online in our little chat xDD This time it was you.

LEGAL CRAP:
This is a Witcher Resource, so GO NUTS! Retexture, recolour, upload your mods! As long as you do not charge money for your stuff or create anything offensive you are golden. The recolours/retextures of Roach are mine though, so if you use those in your mods, credits would be nice :D
