Description


Another Basic needs mod, yes, but this one differs a little from the others. Instead of having to eat, drink or sleep every in-game hour you only need to eat, sleep or drink when it REALLY MATTERS( after 2 days or so - in-game). You won't die (or become severely weakened) if you don't eat for one day, no, you will die ( or get severely weakened) only if you don't eat for 2-4 days( according to real life) and that's not all, this mod may be small but it's so that it doesn't use all your memory/RAM ( or a heck load more than what a mere basic needs mod is supposed to do) so it keeps memory free for all that massive overhauls of yours. This is a good mod if you want to add that extra realism without it affecting your whole gameplay that much. It allows the player to eat and drink food items (if it's a food item) of any mod to satisfy their hunger needs, and some food(like fruits) also help with thirst. This is my first mod so be merciful. Also, I did this because I see most basic needs mods not being updated (which isn't a heck of a problem anyway) and made this mod to fill that spot. I don't want my mod to be superior to other mods (it's a freaking basic need mod - A VERY SMALL MOD) but I want people to enjoy it and find it useful. So Enjoy.

Compatibility for other mods is also a focus point. "Dynamic" is the focus point as well.

How it Works:

  • Every need (separate for hunger, sleep, and thirst) has different stages. When reaching the REALLY-MATTERS stage your attributes will begin to weaken every hour or so until you satisfy your need. If you don't satisfy your need, YOU DIE but this usually happens only after a long time except for thirst(2-4 days). If your attributes are damaged and you go like OH SHIT I need to eat then only after fully satisfying your needs will all your damaged attributes be restored.
  • Water Bottles are added to "most" food and inn vendors(one can also eat fruits) but every innkeeper should have a buy water menu to purchase water from.
  • If you're a vampire you don't need to eat and drink but you only need to sleep.
  • if you're a werewolf from the curse of hiricine mod, then you also don't have to eat/drink.
  • You can survive longer if you have high endurance.

Installation/Update/Uninstall Info


  • For installation just extract the compressed file in the game's root directory or just open the downloaded compressed mod file and copy all the files to the root directory of the game (where the game's files are installed).  
  • For uninstalling from save game: load your save game, open the console (`), type in "set LITEBasicNeeds.TTH_uninstall to 1", wait one hour, look for the messages. Save the game, exit Oblivion and then remove TTH_Lite.esp and TTH.ini from Oblivion's (game's root directory) data folder. This is to ensure you recover all your attributes.
  • for uninstalling just remove TTH_Lite.esp and TTH.ini
  • For updating just replace the file/s TTH_Lite.esp and TTH.ini with the newer one.
  • Read INI file carefully when changing values there. for "multiplier" settings lower means quicker, and higher means longer.
  • Mod should be activated on game start or game load, if you have alternate start mod installed then wait a while(complete tutorial/sewer-part/finalize-select-class-and-birthsign) in the game for the mod to activate when starting a new game (this does not apply to saved games after tutorial stage), it will not activate on game start, I added this "delay" to ensure compatibility for other mods. You will see a message on the left top corner indicating mod is loaded successfully.

  • Added the ability to satisfy your thirst need from drinking potions/drinks from other mods if it is marked as a food item and is not a poison.
  • Fixed small release bugs and errors.
  • Thirst need will not be satisfied by drinking any alcohol(vanilla).
  • Water bottles come in larger stocks when buying from vendors.
  • Water bottle's weight reduced so that you can carry more.
  • Tested with some overhauls so far (Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul, etc.) and no compatibility problems.

  • Added the ability to survive longer when final need stage is reached based on your endurance.

  • BUG -> After updating values in INI file and typing in the console "set LITEBasicNeeds.TTH_uninstall to 1" then pressing enter you must do the same (after waiting for an hour) but type this in: "set LITEBasicNeeds.TTH_uninstall to 0"

Version 1.06 - STABLE
  • Fixed food&drink value calculation bug.
  • Fixed bug when eating or drinking does not lower thirst or hunger after loading a save game.
  • Made small changes (changes in INI file are updated automatically when loading a savegame, changed some code).
  • Fixed Water Bottle availability when loading a save-game. Also, the Water Bottles that Vendors sell have increased to ensure enough is available. 
  • FLAW - The need multipliers from the INI file doesn't update when you load a savegame( everything else does), to fix this you'l have to RESET THE WHOLE MOD after changing the multiplier values. Load the savegame, open the console ('), type in: "set LITEBasicNeeds.TTH_uninstall to 1", press enter, wait 1 hour and then the multiplier values will change according to how you set them in the INI file.

Version 1.07 - UNSTABLE

  • Added Compatibility for Curse of Hircine (will detect if your currently a werewolf and disable needs).
  • Added a Dynamic health&fatigue growth system based on how well your needs are managed, if you regularly starve/become too tired/dehydrate your health and fatigue might drop but if you regularly keep your needs checked up and fully satisfied you will see an increase in fatigue&health. The system calculates your healthiness every 10 days and adjusts your health and fatigue accordingly. It is a dynamic system based on your level and attributes (for instance a player with high strength will see a higher increase AS WELL AS a higher decrease in their health according to their healthiness). The higher your healthiness the less the increase will be but for now there is now limit to how healthy you can be. THIS is not OP, if keep your needs very well(never reach extremely or very tired/thirsty/hungry) controlled and fully satisfied for let's say a 100 days you'l only see an 100-200 increase in your health. I made it more balanced by doubling the penalty if your reach dangerous stages for any of the three needs so 1 bad controlled need will balance out with 2 good controlled needs.
  • Changed&optimized code for another big update that is coming - dynamic need based system.
  • Fixed the flaw from the previous version, as well as some other bugs.
  • Mod is no longer small, so it will help if you report some bugs (compatibility bugs and so forth)
  • Updated the way mod calculates drinks to be more dynamic. drinks from other mods must have fortify health,restore health or restore fatigue, be a food item, not a poison, be an alchemy item and have no drain attribute effects like alcohol does in vanilla Oblivion.
  • Adjusted the availability of Water bottles for vendors,ins and if you get them from looting stuff.
  • Savegames from older versions are compatible.

Version 1.08 - UNSTABLE - 2016/09/06
  • Fixed bug or flaw where after uninstalling this mod does not undo all the changes the healthiness system did to your health and fatigue
  • Changed healthiness system somewhat.
  • Massive optimization of code, removed numerous redundancies, shortened everything and made almost all code more flexible/dynamic for future changes. SO NOW IT WILL BE REALLY HARD TO UNDERSTAND MY CODE.

  • Added topic&option to buy water bottles directly from every Innkeeper(or most of them) when you speak to them, you no longer need to actually barter to buy water bottles
  • Finally fixed the bug with Alternative Restart Revamp, force set GameDay and GameHour to defaults on new game (to prevent this mod from calculating days of hunger, thirst, and tiredness levels and causing player to always die)
  • Extended the player level where water bottles still appear in leveled lists from 1-100 to 1-250
