Have you ever looked at a really interesting quest mod and wanted to try it out only to find that it only fires up after a vanilla quest line is complete and you've ran through the game so many times you can't be arsed to do it again? Or you don't know how it'll interact with your current mod set-up and don't want to risk ruining your current save in case things go pear shaped?

Well, I've thought that more than once or twice so I went ahead and played through several quest lines without mods so that I could test worry-free and figured others would like the same.

Of course, there are some some things to be aware of:

For all save files

1) The character's level will be around 2-4, seeing as I sped through the quest lines as quickly as possible, short of using speed-run tactics in the Main Quest run, so you might find that you're under-powered for some mods that recommend a higher level. Doubly so, if you're using any major overhauls like OOO, FCOM or MOO in your set-up. It won't be that big an issue if you're using an alternate leveling mod but if you prefer the vanilla leveling system, you'll notice I didn't do much in the way of optimizing stat gains.

However, being at a low level also means you won't miss them much if you use the 'showracemenu' console command to change the characters' race/gender/name as I'm sure not everyone wants to be a male Imperial by the name of John Doe.

2) Playing without mods meant going without the unofficial patches so there may be some residual bugs. The only ones I noticed during playing was Martin not donning his armor for the Great Gate battle and some menu icons for clothing being pastel plaid squares. I can't vouch for the buglessness of anything else.

3) I played through the game with the Game of the Year edition of Oblivion so the save files may not work properly in a game without all the official DLC, even though I ignored them.

For the Main Quest save file

Due to the above 'low level' warning, I uploaded a save file that takes place after the shenanigans with the Great Gate but before you enter Mankar's Paradise (aptly titled 'before paradise') in case you want to level up a bit and/or get better sigil stones from the oblivion gates.

I left all guilds and DLC untouched, partially for the role players that want their Champion to be of a specific archetype, and mostly to lessen the chance of unintentional bugs, quest/game breaking or otherwise, from cropping up.

For the Dark Brotherhood Save file

To kick off this quest line, I bumped off Lazare Milvan of Skingrad. Sorry in advance if any mod requires him to be alive!

For the Knights of the Nine Save file

There is the possibility of encountering the 'can no longer sit' bug. The Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patch for this add-on has this fixed and I recommend using it if you aren't already.

For the Mage Guild Save File

I have a feather spell on as without it, you'll be over-encumbered. Most of that weight is the Ring of Burden that I decided to keep as, I don't know, maybe you'll want to enchant it with Drain Stamina and watch yourself ragdoll down a mountain or something. It's not a big deal, but heads up anyway.

I also made a point of nabbing the Summon Dremora Lord spell before the er-- 'happenings' at the Bruma Guild.
