description:
after the mild success of my Skyrimbatch\bat file compilation "skyrim retro cheats"
i have had some time to think: in thepoor mod description i had for it i wrote and i'm quoting from my
poor English there "i bring cheats to oblivion as well"
well, ain't that peachy because up untilthe point: i HAVEN'T!. see,i had a small compilation of around 5
personal custom bat commands for the game which i often used in my
play through but,i never
made them into "Retro cheats"nor did i port them to modding sites yet.
so,after a bit of arranging and afteradmitting my great love of the elder scrolls iv oblivion to myself:i
decided, what the heck? I'll cook up a batch of retro cheats for
"oblivion".
for those of you who didn't log on tomy sky rim "retro cheats" mod,I'll give you a short
breakdown of what it is:
in the past,i have been a great fan ofboth video games and video game cheats, particularly the old reference
commands of the old
PC game generation: rosebud,bawk bawkbawk,chick magnet,aegis,divine intervention,oh canada,wrath of the
gods: all of these
were commands i countlessly have usedin games like age of empires 2,age of mythology, vice city and more:
small little
tidbits of information and referencingto the game's lore, history, small little developer injokes that all
had some cheaty and fun effect on the game.
my original goal for "retrocheats" was to bring that old cheating feel to my favorite
RPG's:skyrim and now, oblivion(with some plans made for the fallout
games: new vegas and fallout three, but that port is still shrouded in
a lot of planning)
but then....ooooo boy.....i ran intosome troubles: not only is oblivion(which is only my favorite game of
all time after "daggerfall" by the way) older and less
modular console wise like its younger brother, but its also got a
stiffer console,less
modifyable features and alot less towork with considering finding the items you need has a slight
difficulty compaired to skyrim....or so i thought: in truth, oblivion
might have a stiffer and older generation of the bethesda game
console
but ironically: it has far morefeatures to work with the skyrim and alot more goofy things to do
with it so: i decided to take my chances and create the best i could
with what oblivion provided me with...the resault was,as
expected:phenomenal:i create a whole slew
of retro cheats catering to anythingfrom forcing weather to adding spells and scrolls to different kind
of "bounty bailout" cheats, forcing menus, locking and
unlocking doors,creating dopplegangers,creating savegames,turning the
player into social outcast and even
adding every black horse courier copyprior to it hitting the presses: all with just the bat file system of
the game.

now, before i contiune telling you aboutthe mod,i'd like to adress a small grievence some people have been
having with the retro cheats series: people asked me "why i
didn't make a port of the mod for morrowind": well, morrowind had
a console which was really great, but
not only were its console commands 50times as complicated then both oblivion and skyrim, but it is
literally IMPOSSIBLE to create and utilize bat files in
morrowind....wish i could help but: it's a no go

so,how do you use these mods and whatawaits for them in the future:

well, that's really simple: in old“retro cheat” fashion,i created an old gamespot\ign\codeseekers
chart filled with the new cheats, how to play them and with small
snarky comments made by me lol.

the cheats themeselves are installed like any other bat file: you simply extract your archive with all the .txt files to your oblivion root folder(the folder where your game launcher and executable are).....it's that simple: no messing with any other files or anything.

it would be recommened to have shivering isles(though it's not neccecary) since some cheats can add and work with shivering isles but that's up to you.

You can just head on up to the PDF filein this archive(maybe read it with sumatra pdf reader or the google
doc system if you don't have adobe acrobat or something) to check out
all the fun things you could do with the mod: adding spells, adding
weapons and armor,removing bounty,triggering menus,adding food items
and book and even aylied statues(what's alyieds statues? Well,if you
played the game you should now,no SPOLIERS here) there are around 70
new cheats to choose from, all of which are great and fantastic to
use.

As for the future of thismod,well......i'll be frank: the original goal was to do it for the
two bat capable single player elder scrolls games: skyrim and
oblivion, but after seeing the great use people have been having for
these cheats,i decided to make 2 other(And at this point, final) ports
of the mod: one for fallout three and the other for new vegas: when
they'll be up,they'll be up so stay tuned.

And that's really it.....enjoy the modand have fun :)
